somethin' rotten arena simulator! (tc headcanon stuff)

The three tributes take their talents (although seemingly minimal in war) elsewhere from the library. They don't remember who made the suggestion, but they find themselves queueing into an arena fight simulation. In the simulation, they're placed into a mock arena with a set of mutts to match the scenario. They fight, sustaining no actual damage, but giving them the pinches in their nerves to understand the point of a few blows. Once they're ready, all three tributes have a weapon in their hand, and the room turns black. They opted for the random scenario. To them, it feels unreal to try and predict the arena.

It smells like mold. Or, what might be mold? Rotting wood, the smell of damp rock. A pink light starts to come alive. They hear a drip, drip, drip, of water and the hum of the simulation comes to life. The pink grows larger, and multiplies. It dots across the room, until eventually, a small cavern forms. Decorated with soft and hot pink crystals, their only light source is the light that (somehow) reflects down to this point of the cave. It's wet, and unstable, which means they should watch their step!

Once they gain their surroundings, they then notice another trio in their presence. More pink (as if anyone could ever have too much), the trio of scorpions begin to hiss. The tributes should act fast to not make a fool of themselves.

a lot of this is just setting the vibe (for purposes of reference in the games!), imagining that we all 3 post, the mutt (glass scorptions) will appear, and then we start w first hits

fight rules:
- we have regular hp (40) (attack with whatever u want mamas! no stations for this)
- there's three glass scorpions! they all have 20 hp and attack with a knife
- instas against the tributes count as 10 dmg & a stun for a round (cannot attack)

thompson's likely in awe at first glance!! he loves pretty glowy things, and it makes him think of the little crystal necklace sylvie passed down to him. he'd then jump at the hissing sound of scorpions, and not really think twice before shooting. he has a simple tc-provided bow.

august is thinking about those haunted houses people in a nearby trailer park used to set up for halloween, charging people a dollar to walk through. only this one is prettier. he's impressed by the technology. He regrets choosing a knife because it's going to be hard to get close to the scorpion.

Tsiuri hates everything about this, afraid that this would only lower her chance at survival. Pink glowing rocks sticking out from each wherever she looked, lightened up the room. It wasn't long till the creatures began attacking. Tsiuri swings down her bat at the first scorpion she saw hoping to crush it.

"oh shoot!" thompson cries out, seeing that the third one immediately gets crushed, but it's further emphasized when the other one jumps at him. this is spooky, but tsiuri must be much stronger than he initially expected. he shoots an arrow at the first one again.

august feels sorry for thompson. the kid's parents really did him a solid by sending him to arts school... not!! he thinks, this guy is going to need a friend. he gives him the only advice he knows about shooting.

"when they're close to you like that, try aiming lower!"

he feels genuine fear and admiration when tsiuri smashes a scorpion's head in. she has that natural touch.

Tsiuri watches the scorpion shatter with some satisfaction. It only lasts a second before the next one jumps at her, claws digging into her skin. Beginning to bleed, she manages to shake it off before cursing into the open. "I hated these things in eleven and I hate them even more now." Thompson seemed to be having trouble with his bow, but August was getting in a few hits.

August offers some advice while Tsiuri reflects on her hatred. He wonders if he'd be better off with a different weapon, so he hopes that this next shot does him well. "Okay." He comments, hearing August out. "I understand why. These things are annoying." Their hisses sound like wind chimes, somehow. Mystical. He feels a gash, but there isn't one there. Huh. Interesting.

"Nice hit! " he shouts as Thompson finally lands a hit. He steps aside for a moment to choose a different weapon, because the bow suddenly looks fun. Just one scorpion left. "Hey, we make a pretty good team!" he beams at the two of them. Time to put the target practice into real practice. He aims at the last monster.

Thompson lands a bit and agrees with her distaste. “You think they are bad here, it’s even worse if you find one in your bed at night”. Thankfully these ones couldn’t really hurt, what she thought was blood no longer dripping. If the situation was any more dire she would have whacked August for his comment and this failure at hitting the mutt. “You just gotta put a little more aggression into it” she offered him up some advice.

Another Scorpion dies. Alone, the last mutt starts to get scared. Their friends are gone! They just want to shine and sparkle with their friends, but now it's just them. They hope that their glow doesn't die when they do. At this point, it's clear they're outnumbered! While the little boy killed their friend, the girl seems much more of a threat to its longevity.

August cheers on his friend, and Thompson feels a small blush of warmth enter his cheeks. Why was he being so nice? A small "thanks" escapes his mouth, sheepish, scared to show any emotion other than being humble. He looks at the other scorpion that's starting to drive toward Tsiuri. "Yeah. Bows need more strength behind it." Thompson thought that the bow would do all the work, but he has to do some of it too.
