When Johnny graduated from first grade he had the best grades in his year. His father was so proud, he asked his son, "What do you want as a present?"
And Johnny said, "Dad, I want a lime green ping pong ball."
Confused his dad said, "Well, why, son?"
"I-I- I can't tell you," replied Johnny. And his father got so mad, he didn't get it for him.
When Johnny graduated from third grade, he had the best grades in his year. His father was so proud, he asked his son again, "What do you want as a present?"
And Johnny answered, "Dad, I want a lime green ping pong ball."
"Buy why?" asked his father bemused.
"I can't tell you dad," Johnny answered. And yet again, his father was so mad, he didn't get him the ping pong ball.
When Johnny graduated from elementary school, he had the best grades that the school had ever had. His father was swelling with pride. And he asked his Johnny, "Son, what do you want?"
And Johnny said, "I want a lime green ping pong ball."
"All right," said his father. "As long as you tell me why."
"I can't tell you, Dad," Johnny answered. And his father refused yet again to fet it for him.
When Johnny graduated Jr. High, his father was so proud, he asked Johnny what he wanted.
"I want a lime green ping pong ball," Johnny answered again. "I can't tell you why." And Johnny's father was so mad, he didn't get it for him.
When Johnny graduated from high school with the best grades in the school, his father was so proud, he asked, "Johnny, what do you want?"
And Johnny answered, "I want a green ping pong ball."
"WHY!?!" replied his father, frustrated.
"I-I can't tell you," answered Johnny.
When Johnny graduated from college with a P.H.D his father was so proud he said, "Johnny, I"ll get you anything."
And Johnny said, "I want a lime green ping pong ball."
"As long as you tell me why," replied his father.
"I can't tell you that," Johnny said.
Now, Johnny was on his death bed. He would die any minute and he beckoned his dad forward weakly.
"Dad," Johnny whispered. "Can-can you get me something?"
"I'll get you anything son," his father answered.
"Get me a lime green ping pong ball," Johnny said weakly.
"Sure, Johnny, I will, but why?" His father replied.
"Because- Because I," Johnny said... And died.
