Rylan: Damen, what are we doing?
Damen: Well Rylan, I finally got a plot idea for NaNoWriMo, and it has a bit of kinetics in it.
Rylan: What are kinetics anyways?
Damen: Well, that's what we will be studying. Have you hear of pyrokinesis?
Rylan: I know that pyro means fire.
Damen: Ahh, close enough. Pyrokinesis means Control of Fire. I guess you could say that -kinesis means control.
Rylan: So, kinetics are the control over something.
Damen: Basically, yes.
Rylan: Why did you choose me Damen? I hear Ember really helped with the Law. And Gage would probably do better with this stuff.
Damen: Well, the main reason was because of your Science lifestyle. Being from District 6, you know alot of physics and stuff, and kinetics are somewhat effected by science stuff.
Rylan: Makes sense.
Damen: Well, and there's the fact that the main character's name is Rylan.
Rylan: -smiles- Thank you Damen.
Damen: Alright. Let's get this sh*t started.
Rylan: Alright.
Kinetics in General:
Kinetics are easily summed up in a few words, as Damen said. They are the control over something. A kinetic is generally the control over the movement and structure of an element. In the next few sections, I will explain some kinetics that are commonly known.
Each kinetic tends to alter your personality, to fit the element you control.
Pyrokinesis:
Pyrokinetics tends to be rash and ignorant. They are hot-tempered, and moody. Set them off, and they will flare up, and use all their anger as a weapon. They like to rush into things, and have as much fun as possible.
Pyrokinetics is the control of fire. They control heat and all it’s forms. Turn a small lighter fire into a raging inferno. Manipulate one’s body heat to burn them from the inside out. Boil their blood until they die. The options are endless. Any fire, whether microscopic, or larger than yourself, can be controlled.
Psychokinesis [telekinesis]:
Calm and collected, you like to think things through. It's all about being analytical for psychokinetics.
The power of the mind. Power of everything, really. Broader control, not as strong as individual control. You can read minds, move things, alter the thoughts of others, and otherwise infiltrate/control the mind of other beings.
Hydrokinesis:
Floaty and easily distracted, you often drift off into your own little world. Bubbly and peppy.
Control of water. The seas are under your control. The moisture hanging in the air is your ally, morning dew becomes a powerful weapon.
Electrokinesis:
Hasty and sarcastic, you rush into things and are very rude.
Power of Electricity. Control the static electricity of a simple balloon and turn it into countless volts. Stop the flow of electricity from the brain to the body and kill someone without so much as a single thought.
Gyrokinesis:
Slow and relaxed, you take things in stride and often procrastinate.
Gravity control. Control the world’s gravity, a set area, or just one person’s gravity. Float high into the sky, jump as if you were on the moon and crush someone under the weight of a planet.
Echokinesis:
Loud-mouthed or silent, you tend to have a split personality. You are cunning and manipulative.
You control all forms of sound, bending it, shaping it, creating it. Make one deaf, whether it be blocking their sound, or bursting their eardrums. You can make it so that people are not heard, so that people hear the wrong things, etc. Not one for battle, this type of Kinesis is more of a skill for assassination or other stealth acts.
Geokinesis:
Abrupt and blunt, you say thing without thinking and you can be honest to a fault.
The power of the land is under your control. Summon a stalagmite anywhere to impale an enemy, blind an enemy with the sand under your feet, cause a landslide by uprooting what‘s in the ground and angling the landscape. You can literally move mountains.
Aerokinesis:
Thoughtful and swift, you like to strategize as quickly as possible. You like pressure because it lets you think faster. One of speed.
Control the wind. Cause a fierce tornado, captain a ship with a sail and move at your own speed with the wind behind your back. Turn a gentle breeze into a fierce wind, extract the air from a person and suffocate them.
Cryokinesis:
Cold and arrogant, you're someone who most people don't like to be around. You're hard to get along with, and you prefer to be alone.
Power over ice and cold. The arctic continent is your haven, freeze the blood in a man's veins, and with help from a Hydrokinetic, make a fierce blizzard and blind your foes.
Chronokinesis:
Abnormally fast and quiet, you get things done with the power of time and space. You do not talk much, and prefer to be alone.
Time. Draw time backward to change the future. View the future at random times, control the power of the world itself. Very strong ability.
Florokinesis:
Kind and generous, you care for everything around you.
This kinesis controls all forms of wildlife to do their bidding. You can speed up the growth of trees and plants at the cost of a fraction of your energy. Plants and animals are under your command. Command a Bengal Tiger to rip an enemy to shreds, or impale an enemy with a vicious thorn sprung from the ground. Never grow hungry when you can summon an apple tree from the ground and eat ripe, delicious apples. If you’re looking for a Kinesis that supports vegetarians, this is it. Who wants to eat an animal that just saved your life, eh?
The Kinetics Food-Chain:
Rylan: Wait a second. Do they actually eat each other?!
Damen: Just keep studying Rylan. It'll make sense eventually.
The food-chain is simple really. Each kinetic has a weakness and a strength. They can pwn one type of kinesis, but fail miserably against another. The food chain is:
Pyro < Hydro < Cryo < Echo < Aero < Electro < Geo < Floro < Chrono < Psycho <Gyro < Pyro
Pyro < Hydro - As in nature, water overcomes fire. When combated, a Hydro can harm a Pyro simply by making direct skin contact. When hit with any form of cooled water, a pyro will emit a smoke and will be unable to perform at top capacity.
Hydro < Cryo - When water gets cold, it freezes. Skin contact between a Hydro and a Cryo may result in temporary paralysis in the Hydro, limiting his/her powers and hindering his overall ability to perform.
Cryo < Echo - High-pitched sounds can break ice. When an Echokinetic makes skin contact with a Cryokinetic, the Cryo tends to gain an immense headache and a ringing in their ears.
Echo < Aero - Sound moves, but the wind moves it faster. If a tree falls in a forest, does it make a sound? When an Aerokinetic and an Echokinetic make direct contact, the Echos' powers are incredibly weak, as is the physical strength of the Echo.
Aero < Electro - Electricity is able to move quicker than air, and therefore can surround any currents and contain the circulation of wind. If an Aero is hit with electricity, he/she will be zapped of energy and will be immobile (and powerless) for a brief period of time. Electrokinetics are impervious to elemental attacks from Aeros, but not from physical.
Electro < Geo - The opposite of Aero, Geokinetics are immune to electricity (as earth is to lightning), and can not be affected by it. When making skin contact with an Electro, they are not able to use their powers, but are not otherwise affected. When attacked with any type of earth attack, Electrokinetics need time to recharge before they can attack with electricity.
Geo < Floro - If nothing in the earth grows, then Geokinetics can't attack. Depending on how Florokinetics use their powers, Geokinetics could be unable to unearth objects, and may not be able to raise earth without it crumbling.
Floro < Chrono - The growth of nature and animals takes place over time. Without time, no growth. At any time a Chrono freezes time, a Floro will be unable to use any of their elemental powers. Chronokinetics can also undo most minor work done by Florokinetics.
Chrono < Psycho - Sometimes a physical battle can become a mind game. When faced with a Chrono, a Psychokinetic possesses the ability to tap into a Chrono's mind and UNDO his work, as well as hinder the magnitude of his/her powers.
Psycho < Gyro - When compressed, air pressure increases and can cause strain. Using gravity, Gyrokinetics can focus on the powers of a Psychokinetic, and induce severe headaches. Upon direct contact, Psychokinetics become immobilized by blind, agonizing pain and can't think straight or use their powers.
Gyro < Pyro - When faced with intense heat, air expands and moves at a different speed than regular. When overheated, a Gyrokinetic can not tamper with gravity, and upon contact with a Pyro becomes weighted heavily by gravity and can't move at regular speed for a short period of time.
Rylan: This is very sci-fi Damen. Aren't you more into writing fantasy? How would this help you?
Damen: Well, I want to test myself. And, I also think I could get the 50,000 words with a story using this.
Rylan: Alright. Well, is that it?
Damen: For now. I have the general knowledge of it now. I will be able to write about it easier now. Thanks Rylan.
Rylan: No problem. I'll be in District Sixwithout a plotif you need me.

Rylan: After doing some more research, I came across another type of kinetic, commonly ignored because of it's wide spectrum of powers.
Damen: Do tell.
Phosokinesis:
Split personalities are often what you have. One moment, you can be cheery and compassionate, caring for everything the world has. The next, you can be dark and cruel, wishing that everything would just die a slow death.
You have control over the light of the world. You can alter the lighting on your self to appear invisible, or make it so bright that people get blinded. Turn night into day, and vice versa. It's a very strong ability, that goes well with chronokinesis.
