Deathly Discussion [SPOILERS]

Ya, couldn't resist the alliteration potential in "Deathly Hallows Discussion" so I pulled out "Hallows". Don't shoot me for being cheesy. :o

First movie I’ve ever scene at the midnight opening, and it was SO. WORTH. IT.

EMMA WATSON WHEN DID YOU BECOME SO AMAZING. I never had anything against her acting, though I know some people do, but oh my Ripred that was some incredible acting right there. Also, she gets prettier every movie. =3 Same with Rupert, who I really felt came into his own for the first time in several movies here. Actually, they all did a pretty fantastic job, I think. ^^

After the last movie, which I detested (monotonous feel, choppy transitions, poor acting, taking out important scenes, adding unimportant scenes, wtfwtfW.T.F.), this was so amazing I cannot even begin to describe my love for it. :D <33333 True enough to the book to make me go :D, but still with a few changes, most of which also made me go :D.

Some of the transitions were still a tad choppy, but it wasn’t bad enough to jar the flow of the movie.

Speaking of flow, nice job of pacing all the forest stuff.

Neville <3 I watched the first movie the night before I saw the seventh, and lol’d at the giant transition. He grows so much over the series... anyway, that one line was pretty awesome.

I cried when Hermione wiped her parents’ memories. Seriously cried. ;_; I’m really glad we got to see that. It was brilliant.

The kept in the ‘saint-like’ and ‘wow, we’re identical’ exchanges. <333 I'mma bawl so hard next movie, with Fred... ;_;

I loved the story-telling. I wondered how they were going to handle that much exposition in one place, and I loved the fairy-tale feel of the ink and such. Quite well-done.

Torture. :D Both Hermione and Bellatrix's roles were well-done, and cutting "mudblood" into her skin made me D8.

Pettigrew’s life debt didn’t come into play, though. WTF? D: It wouldn’t have taken that long, director.

I was really looking forward to seeing the little gold pattern (I don’t remember exactly what it was- chain links, right?) in Luna's room, with her friends’ names. Lunaaaaaa so much love for that girl I just adore her. <3

Disappointed in lack of development for Kreacher, but I understand they have to take some of the longer stuff out. *shrug*

Hedwig Hedwig Hedwig. ;_; Good change from the book, right there. I actually started sniffling a bit when she flew off his arm before they left, ‘cause I thought that they were avoiding her death by having Harry let her go free, but then she came back and I was like... I don’t even know what I was like. I was so proud of her loyalty and courage and overall epic amazingness, but so sad that she died because of it.

I also liked that the way she died provided a different tip-off from the whole expelliarmus thing. That always bugged me a bit in the book. “What, so he can’t use other spells and other people can’t expel wands?”

Locket scene yay. =D

Dobby... ;_; Dx I didn’t start really bawling until Harry went “I want to bury him. Properly.”

I wanted to wallop Snape a few times, even knowing what I know. Except then Alan Rickman’s voice hit me and I went from D< to :D :D :D. I’ve never found him attractive but oh his voice so much yes. <3333

Ministry of Magic... D: in a really good way. Unnerving, that. Good actors for the trios’ roles, they totally nailed it. ^^

The waltzing made me lolwhat at first, but I rather liked it. =3 The whole trying-to-be-optimistic, and how she’s all "=( =\ :| :) :D xD ... =/"

I’m a little annoyed that they never explained the parseltongue thing (with Bathilda) for those who didn’t read the books. Not a big thing though.

NAGINA ILU. <33333 SUCH A PRETTY SNAKE. I’m gonna cry when she dies in the next movie ‘cause really, that snake is just so pretty. I adore pythons.

Nagini was cool (such a pretty snake), and I'm glad they did a transformation thing instead of having to watch Bathilda vomit a snake.

Also, no flashback of killing Harry's parents. D: That would've been nice to see, especially because it's so important to Harry.

I enjoyed it! I'm probably going to go see it again with my sister later this week! She saw it already too at midnight lol. I don't understand why everyone loves it though! I like it yeah! Solid 8/10 but come on! The book was so much better! I can still picture every part of the book in my head and Luna's dad should be older - to me! But aww Dobby was spectacular I can't wait to see this again. The actors were amazing in this one they've really out done themselves. Only real problems from my point of view were the awkward silences that plagues the film, I would have thought more words or music would touch a few scenes - like when George's ear is cut off and they learn Mad Eye has died it felt so bland to me. It could have been more epic like the Dobby scene was!

My friend had a cup full of ice, so naturally, when Dobby was dying, I took it from him, only to realize that the lid wasn't securely fastened to the top. While Harry was holding Dobby and Dobby was just about to die and half the theater was in tears, the lid fell to the floor, clattered all over the place, and took everyone out of the moment. For good measure, I took some ice and crunched it. Good times.

The Doby line was no doubt the greatest line in the whole movie. "Just maim of seriously injure."

so. I'm going to do a similar spazz as Wolf Tears and cover every single aspect I loved.

Usually, in the past, I've been disappointed severely by the Harry Potter movies. I've always kind of compared the book-to-movie adaptation to the Lord of the Rings book-to-movie adaptation. Both are epic adventures and both series are very, very complex and long. And yet, somehow, the director of the Lord of the Rings (who I love a lot) has managed to keep the feel of the trilogy, while still not stretching the entire three movies too long. And yes, I have read the trilogy as well.

Now, enough ranting about the previous failures of David Yates (I absolutely despised the fifth and sixth movies.) Deathly Hallows Part 1 was amazing and it was the first film to do the septology any justice. So far, I think that people have looked down on Harry Potter as childish nonsense, which is a pity because the thematic, cultural and even historical elements in Harry Potter are astonishing and sadly overlooked more often than not.

This film brought on a more "adult" feel especially since the book itself was really mature. From the first minute onwards, I realized that this movie was going to be different from all of the others. The acting of Scrimgeour in the very first scene already threw me completely. It was drawn out, the camera was amazing, the acting was convincing and it definitely gave me chills, just thinking about the danger the world is in. The childish feel has gone and I think that it was this that made the movie such a success. The obliviate scene made me cry, even the second time I saw it. My friends don't really understand, after all, there was no dialogue, but COME ON Emma Watson has improved, dear Sirs and Madams! I was blown away completely, I mean, compare her emotions in movie seven with the fake attempt at crying in movie six?

Overall, I feel that the cast and director really tried to make this last movie the best ever, considering the franchise will be over, after 14 epic years, no less.

What scenes stood out for me in particular:

• I worried about the Charity Burbage scene. In the book, it always came over as something very grisly and scary and I wondered in how far they will keep this element. And they did. I jumped and I am sure that my expression mirrored poor Draco's when Charity hit the table. There was such a tense, shocked silence in the audience and it really hit me that, my Merlin, the Death Eaters have stopped kidding around.
  
• After the obliviate scene, I kind of started sobbing uncontrollably upon seeing the members of the Order. I think it was the whole feel of seeing them one last time, all together. I knew what was to come and it kind of broke my heart and made it swell all at the same time?
  
• The Ministry. OhmyGod, the Ministry. Where did they drag out those three actors? They were amazing! It was a very funny scene and I enjoyed it a lot. Some of the best lines in the movie were in that scene, I swear. What I was missing was that empty, shocked feel that I had when reading that in the book. I remember not really believing that this was truly happening. Maybe it is just me, but it was the first time that I was horrified by the happenings after the downfall of Scrimgeour. Rowling really brought over the sense of fear and really... helplessness in that scene. I think it was good that there was a lighthearted feel, but I certainly missed some of the fear in that scene.
  
• Bathilda Bagshot. This was amazing. I was worried after reading the book. I had no idea how exactly they would pull this off without turning it into a horror movie, because really, snakes coming out of people's necks aren't PG-worthy. But they did it amazingly. I first thought that Nagini would come of out Bathilda's mouth and I was very worried, maybe because I had just eaten popcorn and my stomach wouldn't have enjoyed that much. I also loved it when Nagini kind of jumped up at Harry and Hermione. The audience all kind of nervously laughed and looked at one another when that happened. I jumped. Twice.
  
• Torture scene. I admit that I am the morbid type and these kind of things interest and disgust me at the same time. I was worried previously because Emma, while beautiful, was never the most amazing actress. But she was stunning in this scene. It was a very uncomfortable scene to watch, actually. Her crying made me upset. D: Very much so. But the "Mudblood" in her arm was a nice touch. The audience all emitted a kind of a sympathetic sound. I only missed the sobbing Ron. But alas, it's not that bad.
  
• "Engorgio!" "Diffindo! Diffindo!" Is it just me, or is everyone always loving Ron and Hermione and leaving poor Harry out? I keep trying to cut him some slack when my friends attack him because he's not good looking. Well, I don't mind. Never once in the entire series does it say something along the lines as "OMG Harry Potter is like the hottest person evar! In the entire world!" Excuse me dear wannabe-fans, but Harry Potter is supposed to be a lanky, skinny dude with messed up hair and clothes that are two sizes too big for him. He's supposed to be the hero wearing glasses, not a person who dazzles when he takes off his shirt. Ugh! I'm ranting, I know. His acting was very good indeed in this film. He was convincing, he was Harry! Every bit the confused, Dumbledore's man-through-and-through, flawed boy who had to grow up far too soon. He's never cut enough slack, not compared to Ron or Hermione. I do love them both as well though.
  

All in all, I was very happy. I'm watching it another time this coming weekend. I hope to be just as enchanted as I was the first two times. I started reading this series when it first came out and I literally grew up with it. I am now the same age as Harry is, the book Harry. I am graduating at the same time as Harry's story in the films ends. I feel as if that is a small part of my life that I'll be leaving behind.

Despite all of its idle problems, Harry Potter is a phenomenon. Considering it's gigantic fanbase, from podcasts through conventions through an own music genre and a blooming world of fanfiction, Harry Potter has seen it all. It came about when the Internet was at large and it will hopefully go down in Children's book-history, just as Stephen King predicted that it would.

Dumbledore lives on in our hearts.

I just saw it yesterday, and I think it's one of the better movies in the series. Seriously, they kept most of the plot, only adding a tiny bit here or there. Some parts did irk me a tad bit, but overall, I really liked it.

• Hermione and casting the spell on her parents made me really upset, it was rather depressing
  
• I do wish they had used the Tonks and Lupin aren't already married/whatever that was thing. I remember that in the book, we didn't know Tonks liked Lupin until much later
  
• Polyjuice Potion + Fleur = OMGROFLSAUCE
  
• Ginny/Harry is still okay, although I'm still like "Galaxy had better get off of not out of, phunke Will this instant"
  
• They really were able to depit the hopelessness in the movie that all three were facing
  
• Those three ministry workers = awesomesauce. "Harry's" expression to everything was just hilarious, like O.o.....
  
• I wish that they had inserted the memorial for Lily and James, I was looking forward to that part and then it wasn't there... D:
  
• Bathilda Bagshot scene was like, good. I love how Hermione sees the blood on the ceiling and realizes that she's dead
  
• Bellatrix is an amazing actress, as usual
  
• Luna is one of my faves, as usual
  
• DOBBY ¢¾ "Dobby never meant to kill, only maim... Or severly injure..." The fact that he appears periodically throughout the whole films makes it really, REALLY depressing
  

I. ¢¾. this. movie. and that's saying something b/c normally I'm furious after every HP movie b/c they don't stick to the plot, etc.

This HP movie was...well...the best in a really long time. I don't want to be too confident just yet.


-Hermione wiping out her parents' memories was so....sad...

-Ministry of Magic scene was crazy. So much symbolism and humour. Like Harry's face throughout the whole thing. It was...permanent. xD

-I can't stop doing the antlers hand thing that Ron did.

-Dobby. <3 Love that little guy. First he helps with Mundungus and pushes Kreacher back when he's trying to tell his story. Then he freakin' apparates into the manor and . I loved his retort and was legit crying in his death scene. Actually, I think that was the only part I cried about in the whole movie.

-Okay, I think they should have included the whole Kreacher thing. Imo, that was one of the best parts about the book.

-The whole Ron and the Horcrux thing was...weird. I found myself laughing at it a lot.

-I might have missed out on some details since my friend was trying to get me to remind her about parts of the book. =/ Also, she and my other friend were bickering like a young couple (they're not), and...yeah.


Again, this is one of the best HP films ever. After the disappointment called the 6th movie, I'm so happy that I stuck through. Because this was...amazing. ^_^
