Appearance:

Elizabeth has a squarish head shape that can be mistaken as oval because of hair strands. Dark luxurious hair - in the right light - can turn into a midnight black. The longest strands brush near her chest and stroke against her collar bone. Her hairstyle can be considered "straight-messy", the bangs barely scraping the eyebrows, which are thin as string. Soft chocolate marbles are inserted in curving eyelids. The nose is a bit wavy and is sharp at the end. Nostrils are oval. Elizabeth's lips are thin and pink in health.

Pale. Elizabeth's skin is extremely pale without being to the point of albinism. With a length of 5'7, she usually dominates over other girls in terms of natural height superiority. Her limbs have the same circumference of a doe's legs: skinny - almost twig-like - but powerful. Elizabeth hardly shows muscle, presenting natural fat. She has no marks or blemishes to interrupt the smooth flow of her skin.

Wrapped around her kind of thick neck is a small chain connected to a browning coin. Indented is a horse galloping away wherever the wind blows, free as can be. Elizabeth commonly wears a t-shirt underneath many fabrics, presenting a multi-layered dress of any color fastened by a belt over the stomach. She changes hues with the season: spring is pinks, greens; summer, yellows and blues; fall, represented in oranges and reds; winter is white and - weirdly - blacks and grays. Elizabeth is the one to wear slip-on shoes or high-heels at the parties.

Elizabeth tries to be as clean and fresh as possible so as to appear impressionable to people, especially higher-ups. Her clothes, though, usually have tears and holes, much to her thinking dismay. Because she cannot afford any utility luxury, her hair can be just as greasy as Charlie's, but she can only shrug it off to avoid the embarrassment or even care.

Personality:

Elizabeth is the epitome of being calculative. She loves to think and plan many tactics and situations in her head. Not allowing instinct and emotion override her judgment, she is the more calm of the two but attempts to incorporate care in carefully thought-out actions. The woman deduces and sometimes observes people's body language, smiling while doing so.

As Charlie is one to be courageous and bold, Elizabeth is comparably inactive. The same boldness is presented in a different form - thinking and planning, of course. She's either a person who flees or fights depending on what she feels is most logical to do. Whatever the situation calls dictates her actions. Elizabeth is the type to try to keep her brother in-line should he stray from being good, for she wants to establish different types of bonds with individuals.

News and information come first before one's emotions. Elizabeth always has patience for new data, taking the pieces into the diverse and vast pool of planning in her head. She can be the last to leave for the sake of information - unless it's unnecessary. Though she adores hearing changes to a situation, she cannot stand hearing information that she deems unimportant. The girl twin will ask to cut to the chase or to stop digressing so her head won't clutter with 'junk'.

Carefulness embodies her heart. Though sudden changing of plans is not a problem, Elizabeth would rather have a tactic that worked out well from the beginning than one that had faults throughout the process. Such a thing could be a 'testament' of her not thinking carefully enough. She is susceptible to some improvisation but don't expect it to happen many a time. In a sense it's a form of stubbornness.

Because she wants to better their lives by bonds and establishments, Elizabeth attempts to take into consideration the emotions and heartstrings of individuals. Along with her calculative nature is a trait to string together better words. She tries to take advantage of connotative language, replacing words like 'fat' and 'overweight' with 'with just a bit of fat' and 'powerful'. It's natural for her to want to avoid fights, but she will not let others step all over her if being overly impertinent, as some figures actually want some bravery in girls.

Fashion and social image are sort of prized for Elizabeth. If it were not for wanting financial aid for her and Charlie, she would not care for such things, instead saying that mind should be considered more than the physical eye. Past interaction, though, has made her conscious of presentation. It is because of people that Elizabeth tries to act calm but agreeable to ideas though sometimes showing signs of strength to prove not everyone can make her a doormat. When it comes to secrets and discreet information, she'll juggle around with her choices but will prefer - most of the time - to keep it as it is.

Elizabeth relaxes more when it's just Charlie and her in a room. Granted that he is her only family now, she has unconditional love for him, even if she says she can't stand his tendencies to dig his nose into trouble. The twin sister can be just as observant about him as with others, however she does not try to act like the agreeable person and sometimes gives him space. Elizabeth lets Charlie deck out the hurt and be active in her place.

History:

Considering District 8 is of the lower Districts, poverty and bottomless starvation strike the citizens more often than not - though not as bad when compared to the death rate of District 12. Accidents are also more likely to occur which can lead to a sharp increase of recorded fatalities. The base center of the Darwin history, Death has visited them many a time, especially in prime youth. Only once has recorded them of an unknown result due to an event, but it usually lead to grave feeling. Important moments in life have left Charlie and Elizabeth to cling to each other for family, alone in a small world known as District 8.

Elizabeth and Charlie were born the oldest and as twins to a mother and hard-working father who, from time to time, had business in other Districts for a job related to textile. District 8 was a rough-tough District - and still is. Many people tend to descend to bad habits to ease the pain and turmoil in many broad types, such as financial, familial, educational, and so forth. Whichever the problem was about, the twin's mother gave her hand to liquid depressants, which made her pleased and dandy. They warmed her throat and gut, but not her heart. Instead going colder as liquor made her drunk, the lady would beat her spouse, instilling some fear into their children.

The original family was seven children - including the twins - and the two parents. They were always poor, and the adults practically slaved themselves to keep the money flowing for seven hungry mouths as well as their own. No amount of income could save the unintentional murder and passing winds to caress the Darwin line, only graciously sparing Charlie and Elizabeth Darwin, who couldn't be more different from each other than a domestic dog from a wild wolf: same family but different wiring in their brains.

Oliver, following after the twins a year behind, succumbed to a rumbling stomach long abandoned of nutrition and food. People would cringe at the tiny bones almost ready to break through the skin due to how much already showed under it. Sweet Oliver died at four years of age, just barely when the twins were five.

Age six for the two and only an infant for her, Margaret passed away by crib death.

Horses had gotten away with murder for little Abigale, who was three and following the twins by four years. Both seven years old and after the trampling of their beautiful baby sister, Stephen, their father, departed for a District on terms of business. Though he was to return a week after the departure, Stephen's presence was never filled in the house. One month, not there. Two months, not there. A whole year, still not here. Elizabeth would later suspect that he was either killed during the trip or never wanted to return to a dreadful wife and a depressing home of dead children.

Elizabeth and Charlie were ten-years old when eight-year old Isaac wandered too far from their mother's sight. Electricity baked his body instantly when the body smacked against the powered fence. She would recall, for a short time, how black his body became.

A couple years passed without tragedy. Hunger pains here and there, but nothing to account as 'deathly' or 'detrimental to the family line'. Until Anthea's time stopped at five. Twins of twelve years of age beheld the life snapped at the neck for little Anthea, by accident while falling out of a chair. In the six months after, the liver decided to give itself up for Madeline, their mother. The poor alcohol-ridden creature now finally had rest.

Elizabeth and Charlie had decided long and hard to think of the possibilities now it was just the two of them in the house. One choice: to go to orphanage; the other: hide away the death and try to work their hands off for the income.

The latter was picked.

Charlie left to be apprentice for a small shop in leather-making while Elizabeth found her work in the fields, picking and cutting away with pleasure. Their early child-labor working manifested into many cuts, scars, bruises, marks, but Elizabeth tried to hide away such blemishes to impress people. People were of utmost importance to her, she gathered. They could lift the heavy load of poverty even the slightest with a small contribution; and, basically kissing the hands and feet of the business superiors would provide opportunities never openly expound upon.

Nowadays, the twins work like slaves in their professions, though Elizabeth tries to salvage the work by constantly reminding herself it is money well-earned and will be well-spent.
