Age: 19
Gender: Male
District/Area: Wanderer from District 10
Appearance:
Yuki's face makes him look a bit younger than he actually is, maybe because some baby fat still lingers there. He is of Japanese descent, and so he has slanted, dark brown eyes and naturally pin-straight black hair. Sometimes he will dye his hair or make it wavy, to give himself a "new look". But generally, he stays with the way he looks naturally.
He's 5'7.5" in height, and, though not fat, he is a bit wide. This may be from his constant moving around, especially because his job--even more so when he was younger--required it.
Generally, he has a very relaxed, "cute" look, and he's almost always smiling, so his appearance is that of a person who is easily approachable, much reflecting his actual personality.
Personality:
Yuki is a fairly nice guy, perhaps made so by his past circumstances and his own beliefs. He is an asexual teenager, almost 20, who constantly gives off the appearance of someone very relaxed. Because he has become accustomed to his living circumstances, he is indeed a very calm person who is both extremely understanding and a very good listener. In many respects, he'd make a much better parent than many of the current parents of Panem.
That being said, of course he likes to joke around, and he's certainly not against teasing his friends and loved ones when a situation calls for it. He's very talented at most things he attempts and is also very smart for his age. This makes him very much the outgoing, "life-of-the-party" type, as he is extremely good at combining fun and adventure with a hint of rationality.
The serious side of him exists, of course, and it's generally present whenever he attempts another "job", though always with a smile on his face and an optimistic outlook. However, in situations when he really needs to be serious, he's one of the first to take charge, specifically because he feels the need to protect his loved ones. It also takes a lot to get him depressed, but even so, when it happens, it can be pretty bad. Of course, this is rare. Generally, Yuki is very quiet about his past, as he truly believes he has left it behind to become a new person.
History:
Yuki was born to a normal family from District 10, a lower district, but comprised of many citizens that could probably counter the wit of those from Districts 2 and 6. His parents were just traders with foreign countries, but it was because of these connections that they were able to learn different dialects and reach the intelligence of those who were fortunate enough to be able to attend university. There was also a keenness in the Yamaguchi family for mathematics, one that--to this day--Yuki still holds.
Since he was a baby, his parents had been training him to be a smart child, but unfortunately they died in an accident when he was very little, only four years old. Their passing would have meant much, much more to Yuki, had he not also been living with his grandparents at the time.
Because the five of them had lived together for so long, Yuki was as close to his grandparents as he had been to his parents. Though both were very old, they continued to train Yuki the way they knew his parents had wanted him to grow up. He was homeschooled, and often given books as birthday presents. And yet, his grandparents always gave him the freedom to explore on his own--the local stores, the District, wherever he chose to go. They encouraged his freedom and enjoyment, and helped him to grow up to be a good person.
The older he got, the more Yuki knew that the death of his grandparents was imminent. His grandfather died first, of sickness. Of course he was sad, but like his grandmother, he knew it was going to happen. Since that time, he had gotten a job on his own as a shopkeeper at a local bakery. It was there that he had mastered his cooking skills, and there that he learned how to support his family.
At age 15, his grandmother died. This time it was because of old age, not sickness. Yuki was fairly depressed after that, but he continued his work at the bakery and kept up the house. In his spare time, he read and explored wherever he could. But a few months after his grandmother's passing, and he got bored of his lifestyle.
So he ended up selling his home, packing up what he could carry, and set out to explore the world with the money he'd made off his home. He believed that if he never looked back, he would find the place he belonged. And so, he set off exploring all the Districts, finding out what about them was unique and meeting and befriending many people along the way.
A year after his wanderings had begun, he met Katsuo Suzuki. By this time, Yuki was running out of money. The two ended up befriending each other and working together to support one another. They set up a makeshift home somewhere near the Capitol and began to survive in whatever ways they could. It wasn't until a little bit later that they met the Yoshida brothers and Nozomi.
Today, the five work together to support each other as a family.
