In surprising contrast to his sister, Thel Willowever, Jason is tall for his age. Once upon a long ago, he was well-fed and almost plump. Now, he still eats better than most in his district (because of Thel's uncanny abilities to grow everything but herself), but he often pretends to be full so his sister can eat more (so she can grow taller but it doesn't work). Time in the fields has given him his strength and endurance, but he's not as fast a runner as Thel. He also has a callus on the middle finger of his left hand from holding the pencil incorrectly when writing.

He has his grandfather's rusty red hair (before his grandfather, the Gamemaster, dyed his hair because it was the fashion of the Capitol) and green eyes like his sister, only his have grey specks in them. They have been known to be unnerving at times, especially when he's angry. His eyelashes are longer than most girls of the Capitol are. His tanned face is sprinkled with a few freckles over the bridge of his prominent and straight nose. His cheekbones are high, as well. His lips are thin, and his jaw is well-defined for a child.

Personality:

Jason is more outgoing than his sister (which doesn't say much) and also spends more of his time poring over his books, especially those with the bits of science. He laughs more than he smiles and is very mature for his age, as many first-born children are in his district. In times of trouble, he has been known to lead and inspire others with actions more than words, though he's a pretty amazing, speaker, too. One thing quite memorable about him is the way he laughs--a whole-hearted one that comes from his entire being.

History:

He and his younger sister, Thel, live with their 'grandmother', a neighbor that knew and supported their parents.

His mother was the disowned youngest daughter of the Head Gamemaster and the granddaughter of a leading rebel in the first rebellion. and ran away from the Capitol; his father was a trouble-making commoner his mother fell in love with and ran away for. Jason's father was taken away by the Peacekeepers when Jason was seven and was never seen again. It is a common belief that he was killed.

Jason is five years older than his sister, his only blood relative now. His 'grandmother' is a prominent leader in the operation of the fields, but she doesn't like the control of the Capitol.

He spends most of his time tinkering with rusted and broken tools and bric-a-brac that have been discarded. He hopes one day to make his own helicopter, but he has yet to find out how. He loves to invent and draw his imagined works in a little book he made himself. He has already invented a few appliances for his family and neighbors.
