Standing at six foot, Athan towers over most people his age, yet some are even taller. He has a medium build and fair skin...nothing overdramatic that makes him stand out.
A hopeful, innocent-enough face with black hair and such light eyes that some call 'crystal eyes' is another aspect he possesses.
Athan usually wears loose-fitting clothes that are not baggy, to aid him in hunting.

Personality:

Athan has a kind personality, although he is very selective of who he lets into his life. Despising the Capitol, knowing the extent of others' hunger, having snuck out of his District boundaries and seen others.
He's usually smiling when around those he's friends with (which isn't many), so in reality he usually keeps a straight face and avoids Peacekeepers to the best he can.
Although kind and conservative, Athan is all-out when it comes to hunting to feed as many as he can, being the district specialty. He hunts fiercely, eyes never wavering when about to make a kill. Relentless.

History:

When Athan was born, he was the youngest of four children. Never harassed by his older sister and three brothers who never had to compete in the Games... he's the only one left who's eligible. He's put in extra entries for tesserae anyway (although the family has enough to eat, they prefer to help those who need food as well).
In addition, at birth his mother died. He grew up, until age three, with a moping family. Although as he grew, they also grew happier.
When the happiness finally seemed to get better, his brother died. The third oldest and his closest family member... dead, caught taking extra meat from the quota one day.
Although that sibling died and was his closest, Athan was the only one who pushed on, the others still supporting the family, but never talking.
At nine, Athan learned to hunt. The youngest child of the family had learned at the youngest age--also the youngest in the District who knew how as well. He learned quickly, finding a knack for knife-throwing...with better precision than most thoughts could conjure.
