Appearance:

Kirin is average height, but extremely skinny although most people believe that's thanks to her high metabolism than the lack of food and nutrition. Her dark hair - so dark it's almost black - drops several inches below her shoulders, normally worn down or in a ponytail. But because Kirin sometimes feel uncomfortable when her hair is tied back, she more frequently wears it down. This can be a problem at times; her hair can get snagged in tree branches or just simply get in the way. And she's stubborn enough to cope with that.

She inherited her bright, jade-green eyes from her father and the tan skin from her mother. Despite of all that, however, Kirin remains to be the only one in her family of four who has dark hair. The rest - including her older brother - have mundane, copper-colored shades. Sometimes she's mistaken to be part of another family.

Although Kirin is skinny, she can run extremely fast, and most of her is muscle anyway. This doesn't mean she's particularly buff, either. Her body's best described as lean from long hours of sheep tending and running. Unfortunately despite all of the muscle, Kirin still isn't as strong as she as fast, which can be one of her weaknesses at times.

Personality:

Many of her friends describe her as hot-headed, stubborn, and passionate. Although some see this as good traits, others might be under the conclusion that she's rash and reckless. Actually, Kirin is often reckless, but she is extremely loyal and sensible when the time allows it. She's not stupid either, but her quick decisions might place her as so.

Although Kirin's main characters might seem like she's a rebellious person, it really depends on the people she hangs out with. Near adults and those more "important" than her, she tends to follow the rules and speak when spoken to. Near her friends and enemies, however, Kirin may act without thinking. She has, in a way, a split personality, but not enough to be recognized as bi-polar.

Even though Kirin doesn't show it publically, she cares for her friends and family. A lot. She's known for acting uncomfortable or even stoic near affection or signs of affection, but her own passion toward living beings is carefully hidden away. This makes her both loyal and, sometimes, slightly emotionless.

History:

Growing up in District 8, Kirin's supposed to be very good at weaving or sewing...or just anything to do with making cloth and clothing. That, however, isn't the case. Being a very...dynamic person around her family, Kirin spends most of her time herding the sheep and bringing in cotton instead of sitting down with her mother and learning how to sew or weave. This has brought herself closer with her older brother, Skylen, who, along with their father, worked to tend their animals. It also created a strong bond with their guard dog who usually spends his time with Kirin and the sheep.

At first, after nearly a decade of sheep herding and games with his younger sister, Skylen fell ill to a plague that had spread throughout the District. Because it weakened his muscles and limbs, he was forced to stay in bed instead of spending his time outside anymore. Fortunately though the plague wasn't deadly, but neither was there a cure. Now Skylen spends most of his time inside while his younger sister takes over his job. He's still alive, but desperately weakened, much to Kirin's immense dismay. Because she still regards Skylen as her best friend, she gets extremely touchy whenever someone brings up her brother's sickness.

Kirin's parents, Nina and Rory, both work in the cotton business by hand, although Nina does more of the actual cloth making. Each member of Kirin's family participates in an important role, even Skylen who's weakened, and even Kirin who never takes her work seriously. The Youngbloods also have a distant family in District 9, although Kirin knows next to nothing about them besides that they're a family of second cousins of some kind.
