Age: 16
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 7
Appearance:
Not surprisingly, being a twin and all, he looks exactly like his brother, Pendulus. It can be granted that his worries about his appearance are a little more than his sibling's, but not by a significant amount. At times he wishes he at the very least looked a little stronger; but he realizes showing off strength and muscles are worthless in the stead of properly using them.Personality:
(This paragraph may look familiar, but there isn't much I can really say is different about this part.)
His complexion comes to the addition of his living conditions, genetics and his day-to-day basis. The household has always been a clean haven (in consideration that his mother has always been a bit of a neat-freak and overprotective of her offspring). Therefore, he is a rather sanitary being, always being clean every time he departs for work and is immediately bathed after coming home. (There were only ever two instances in his life when he became sick). From genetics, he leans towards the tall end of the group (he is 5’9-5’11 relatively, from his father’s share in the gene pool) and is bony (notably in the ankles, hands and feet, from his mother’s side). However, his muscles are lean in the arms and legs (also good at dragging/carrying heavy burdens) from the lumber-work he does for many hours a day.
Like his brother, his hair cannot be compared to his parents; not luscious and full as his mother’s, or as wavy and flowing as his father’s, but personally, he accepts that it's unique (to both him and his brother) and it's probably the physical trait he respects the most as it is. It’s a mousey black to dark brown (dependent upon the weather and season effects), wispy and short (though he considers growing it out a little bit more). In all other sense of his face, he resembles his mother; dark and deep brown eyes, that gleam with a youthful hope despite all hardship, skin between the color of olive and fair, a warming smile, like a hearth in the winter months, and a round shape to his face.
Every day, he pretty much wears the same thing (the same style of clothing). He's known fairly well that dressing like a fanciful baron in District 7 won't get you working any faster in the lumber shed. Typically, he wears baggy, bark brown shirts (6 sets), worn black pants (handed down from his father, 3 pairs) and leather boots (2 pairs, made especially by his mother). Travel and winter attire hardly change either. (Basically, the same outfit with a dark, forest green vest, worn loosely over his clothes. He’s never been too altered or deterred by the weather).
Often mistaken for, or mixed up with his twin brother, Pendulus.
Pendulus never took full credit as being the artsy one of the two; Perilus has a fairly creative mind, and notices it. (Unlike Pendulus though, his forte is not is music, but in the carving craft). But it doesn't make up the full of him. He's the more logical one of the two; thinks things through before taking action, works out situations and their outcomes, and the upper strategist.History:
He prefers things to remain as they are and quite stubborn against change. He never takes it quite so smoothly sa Pendulus, although it's a natural process. (Hence the reason he is rather skeptical upon his father's return, although he sees reason in Pendulus' theories.)
Never once has he ever been considered the foolish, cowardly one; in fact quite the contrary. Through everything, he remains stubbornly loyal to his brother, Pendulus, acting as though he were the big brother, and always sticking up for him when the odds weren't in his favor. He listens to Pendulus' needs, takes a share in his worries (in fact usually multiplies it by ten in his own mind) and has always claimed the place as most appreciative towards his music, preferring to hear it while he works on his own craft (and considering it a lullaby that could put the moon to sleep, and the only thing that makes his mind turn to any fantasy.)
In public situations, he's never fared well (although he is quite capable of doing so). Often conversation with those other than his immediate family is utterly short. In the outside world, he is not a man of many words. But he doesn't need words, his actions show through and reflect his mind as it is. When it comes to bribery (or more likely convincing) he usually takes the underhand and lets Pendulus do most of the talking (and notably does this as a cover-up for Perilus).
In the midst of fall months, he was born along with his twin brother to his mother and father, both young and new parents at the time. They were never much of a bother or trouble though, even as wee babes (as their mother would call them). Their fascination with the world around them pleased both of their parents dearly. But after they were born, their father did begin to take various trips, which would last varying from 2 days to 4 months. Despite his frequent absence, the bond between his parents remained strong and loving. They wanted what was best for their boys.Codeword: muttations
Every time their father returned, he always brought back with him something he knew his family would value, otherwise known as gifts. It was told that their father saw the bond and looked into their hearts deeper than any other soul. Therefore, he never brought back two of the same gift. The year Pendulus received his whistle, Perilus received a small drum and more times than not, tried to keep a beat for his brother (for a good portion, unsuccessfully. ) Of the gifts his father had given him, the most favorable in his eyes had been a chisel he received at seven. The tool itself had many intricate designs that ever so easily captivated him and inspired him to continue with his own works. (Not a year later, he even devised his own symbol, a signature on his work so it could be identified as his own creation.)
Since he received the chisel, it could be estimated that he has made over 300 pieces of wood carving (which could be placed in any category from cups, to barrels, to wind chimes). He can work just about anywhere, tuning into the scene around him and taking his skill to heart, but more often then not, he works in the presence of his brother's music. Pendulus claims it's the one instance he sees him smile while being so focused and intrigued by his own mindwork. He never fails to amuse or amaze Pendulus either, as he so intricately and swiftly creates webs that he has seen outside in the shed, or of the houses that align the streets.
He began working when he was nine with his father (and yet again, his twin) in the lumber mills and they quickly progressed (many family friends had offered to take up their apprenticeship when he was gone). He is more apt to follow the guidelines than Pendulus, but he still takes his own unique twist when cutting as well (more people tend to appreciate his strenuous, consistent ethic, compared to that of his brother. But once again, he stands up for him).
His younger brother was born in the previous winter, a small lad they call ‘Aren’, causing their father to become more concerned with his family’s well-being. In a sharp storm, their father layered himself with clothes and stepped out of the house, without any final farewells or even so much as an expression of love. It had been the last time Perilus or Pendulus laid eyes on their father in a year. His gut instinct has always told him, and nagged him, that there was something about essence of air he left that said his return was unlikely. He never took things spiritually, as Pendulus has, although he realizes his father's image intrudes his mind more often than he'd prefer. His respect for his father has lessened over the year he has been absent, but his admiration of his actions and ideas hasn't quite reached rock bottom.
Since then, he and Pendulus have taken over their father’s duties and shaped them into their own. They help their mother, who remains hopeful as well, and have developed a strong bond with their young brother (who, not surprisingly, resembled them very much at that age).
Comments/Other:
The same year Pendulus received such a pendulum (the item that people now take as an identification), he received a small ring with the same gem, a green amethyst placed in pure bronze) that he wears on his ring finger, and has not removed for at least 4 years.
