Age: Ten years
Gender: Female
District/Area: The Capitol
Appearance:
Emelia has long red-brown hair that goes to her shoulder blades. She has a few shorter strands that frame her face, but she usually pins them back with a set of rose pins. Otherwise they go down to her neck. Her skin is pale, but she has many freckles around her nose. Emily has no true Capital marks, despite her parents' urging. Her eyes are hazel, a lovely mixture of brown, green and gray, with medium length lashes. She is about four foot, 67 lbs.Personality:
Emily wears just about the opposite of normal Capital garb- instead of brighter colors, she wears brown, gray, and black. She will wear the occasional green or purple, but never any lighter than needed. Her clothes fit perfectly, and, being an only child, are plentiful. Emelia never leaves her home without her bracelet and her bandanna. Though she never wears the bandanna- it is merely a token she keeps in a pocket, a purse, anything handy -the bracelet is always worn. Her grandmother gave it to her when she was eight, and she has worn it ever since- it's a thick silver chain with a charm of a kitten on it.
Emelia doesn't belong in the Capital. That's all there is to it.History:
Although her parents are average Capital citizens, she was mostly raised by her Grandmother, a law-abiding yet "abnormal" elder. Though Emily does what she is told, she doesn't really believe it's the only way.
Emily is wise for her years in terms of Capital citizens, let alone children. Because of her "different" upbringing, she doesn't fully trust the Capitol leaders, and doesn't find amusement in The Hunger Games. She enjoys sparkly things and colorful things and her things in general. However, this doesn't mean that she has to indulge in them. If there are other people in worse-off districts, they should share instead of hoard.
Emily, in the opinion of her parents and peers, has more flaws than strengths. Teachers don't understand her constant questions -even if she understands something, she's more than likely to clarify and/or ask questions that begin with "what if…" -and her peers want her to be more like them. Even at such a young age, Emily is usually stereotyped as a future rebel, though she wishes nothing more than to make others' lives better. Even her parents worry about her future, trying as hard as possible to convince their daughter that the president knows best, and things will never change. As far as strengths go, Emily is an excellent writer and loves to do so. She isn't very athletic, but don't allow this to fool you- she has the lungs of an Olympic runner and though her body may tire quickly, she can work for an immense amount of time despite her Capital upbringing.
Emelia's parents had always wanted a daughter to spoil, one that they could sit and watch The Hunger Games with, and have the occasional meaningful chat.Codeword: muttations
Well, they didn't get one.
Emelia was born an average baby- small, adorable, loud, etctera. However, as she grew older, her parents noticed a certain difference about her. The way she held herself, her personality, her voice… she didn't fit in with the other children. Instead of talking about clothes and buying unneeded items, Emily wanted to sit alone and read. By reading, I don't mean the average stories of princesses and weddings. No, Emily loved to read history books. She didn't understand most of it, but she would bring the books home to her Grandmother who would gladly read and explain anything she didn't understand.
Though Emily loves her parents, and thanks them for everything they've done for her, she doesn't think they really "get" her. Her Grandmother, on the other hand, shares her views and beliefs. They are two of the same. Numerous times, her parents have tried to change her, but she has always resorted to running to her Grandmother.
