He had stopped once to get water from the hot springs and stopped once more to put them all into his satchel. Then his pace went right back to his normal speed, his direction being the large rocks. Winona Kirby had already left to god knows where, leaving Soren behind with the two alliance members of his first kill. Storm Wie would've killed him eventually, had he stayed. Heron wouldn't of touched him, he liked to think. And as he ran down the slope, pulling out his bottles and holding his sword close, he saw the body of Anastasia Fortescue, his first kill.
He had thought it would be worse. He had thought that he would be swallowed up by guilt and pulled down onto the ground in emotional and mental pain. But instead, he felt a burst of adrenaline and a sudden feeling of the loss of sanity. As he ran, things didn't seem as realistic as they would've when epinephrine pumped through your veins. He was losing his reality, the reality he tried so hard to hold on. And now he was running towards the large rocks just to find the ones he had lost. Even if that was dangerous.
Snip Bysho had never showed up. Of that much he was certain. In the mines back at home, they had a system for some miners that got lost. Each party had to go to the last place they saw each other so that no accidents happened. People had families to go home to, just like the tributes of every Games. Except here, there is no multiple survivors. Only death, more death and one lucky survivor. But the strategy still worked with Soren after he played it out in his mind. Logically, you would go back to the last place you saw somebody. So maybe he would see Winona and Snip standing amongst the large monoliths.
But as he arrived, they were no where in sight. He was sure to wait though. Maybe they stayed around a bit somewhere. He was sure that they would arrive. Hopefully. Don't touch the rocks Soren. You have no idea what they can do. He guided himself around the group of rocks, trying to see something in the distance. But there was nothing. Until he heard the screech of something. That's when he froze on the spot and pulled out his sword. He cursed under his breath, standing there completely alone. And then he saw four things, appearing like bats. He put out his sword, ready to swipe when one came by.
