See a Need, Fill a Need?

I hope this sort of question is appropriate to post in this forum. It seemed like the most likely place where I would find a genuine answer.

So far, since my registration this morning, I've read over quite a few things. The rules (again--I read them before I even registered), the board summary, some of the important Announcements, and a few posts here and there from members and staff alike, just to get a feel for things. (So far, I'm impressed, and excited to be here. *wiggles*)

Anyway. My question is this:

I have not yet created a character. I have one formulating in the back of my mind, but I have not yet decided upon her district, or her role in society. Is there a particular district, or role, that is low on players? Is there a need I could fill, being someone comfortable with role-playing and quite familiar with the world within the books? I'm not looking for special treatment--far from it, actually. I just want to know if there's a way I can be useful, since it will perhaps help me develop a better character than just whatever randomness I can pull out of my head. :)

You could always check out the plots board to see if any member needs any specific characters.

To see district numbers (by comparison), you can look at the character directory (found on side bar) to help you determine. I don't think it should play a huge role, but it's definitely something you can use to factor in your decision.

I usually recommend that your first character be your own, but if you want to fulfill a need, be my guest. =) I'm sure someone will appreciate it.

That's not a bad idea, Dee. I had temporarily forgotten that you guys allow more than one character. Perhaps I'll follow your suggestion, and make my first character unique to my own individual quirks and ideas, then fill a need later on, if necessary. I like to be helpful, almost to a fault sometimes, ha! (:
