Just a day in Disrict 7 [Open]

Fenton was a useful girl when it came to construction. She didn't do it much, at all. But that all ended this very day. The population in District 7 was soaring. So construction had to also. Usual days for Fenton meant a day chopping up lumber. But construction was very common around District 7.

Fenton woke up to no sun gleaming in her room. Very typical this time of year. The reaping was soon, and it always seemed dark on that time of year. Construction is always hard in the rain though. The district had to get it done though. Veckton would start to work at the age of 14. Two more years. Veckton always fixed breakfast for Fenton in the morning. Fenton gave him a peck on the cheek and left for the construction site.

On her way down to the site she tripped and fell on a rock. She was hoping no one noticed. She gathered all her tools and looked around to see if anybody was around to see what happened. Of course this time of day is busy for District 7, but it seemed as if no on noticed her fall. She hurried her pace a bit because that trip wasted some time. She heard footsteps racing after her. She now knew someone saw the fall!

Falling. I watch a girl falling. She looks around to see if anyone notices and then heads up to go somewhere. I pace quickly up next to her side."HI!" I am Hermione! Who are you? And why did you fall? What is your middle name? Are you okay Fall Girl? HA! Fall Girl! Get it? Like the seasons?! TEHE!"I exclaim. I hope this girl doesn't think I am weird like everyone else does. . . . .

I glare at this girl. As long as she likes me, I guess I could be okay with her. But she is already annoying, and I just met her! And Fall girl! Seriously! I tripped! Man this girl would need some work on. But maybe I could change her. Make the girls and boys, like her. She was pretty and I would give her that. She also asked so many questions! Lots of work! But I always do what Veckton would do. Veckton would answer this girls questions, and make her seem cool. Veckton always can do that! He is only 12 but ya. Then i get my attention back on this girl.


"Hey Hermione! I have never seen you around here before! My name is Fenton Rauley! My middle name is a secret so you can't tell anybody you promise. It is Nessa. Tell no one. And Fall girl. That is an instant classic joke!"

I say laughing. I am pretty good at this! I made her sound cool! I seem lame now though. But Veckton never is! So that just makes me feel better! I give Hermione a smile and I continue to walk towards the site.

"Where are you going, are you gonna walk all the way there. Ew that would make my feeties tired. When my feet are tired sometimes I cry and then it is better, but really where are you going? one of the construction sites? thats far away! they have metal there ya know! but mostly wood. There is so much wood here! But I am handy with an axe, so it can be fun! tehe! They should hire Wood Peckers and Beavers for this and not us tehe then we wouldn't have to do all that stuff to make our feeties hurt!,I say, trying not to talk to much. I think I am doing good!

The girl looks pleased with herself. She is one crazy girl. No one has ever talked this much! But I can't stop thinking of Veckton. He is just too sweet. I just smile at the girl and nod. I wonder where she gets this from. I am already annoyed and we just met! But it is always Veckton. How can he live like this! But is she had an axe, I couldn't imagine what would happen to this district. Terror is all I find. And didn't she know this district specializes in lumber! Of course there is a lot of wood. But I just keep smiling, hoping I can get through it.

She smiles, and I see her teeth. They are pretty."Your teeth are shiny! aw! they are pretty! like pearls! My Momma has pearls they are pretty they are in this jewelry box that is hidden in her room that my Grandma gave her before she died. Well duh, I mean she couldn't have given it to my Momma if she was dead tehe!Suddenly, I see a raccoon about 25 yards away. I HATE raccoons ever since one attacked me. So I do the usual. I take my axe out of its holder on my belt, and chuck it the full 25 yards at the raccoon. I hear a sick sticking sound as it enters the raccoons body and giggle.

This girl changes subjects real easily! I don't think she is too bright either. I saw a raccoon about 25 yards away. I love those things! But Hermione had something different in mind. She throws her axe at the thing. She giggles as it enters it's flesh. I have a sad look on my face now. Veckton would have never done that! Me neither! I love animals! but she killed it! I got an angry look on my fac, and I was! I glared at Hermione and felt like exploding. She looked kind of timid. So i backed off.

I continued to walk. I stopped at the dead raccoon. I took the axe out of the flesh and gave it back to Hermione. I didn't like this girl anymore. I really hoped we were close to the site. This Hermione girl was weird and crazy! I couldn't stand her for another minute!

I realize this girl isn't liking me, so I take my fast working pills. The ones that calm me down and make me normal. We walk for awhile, and I can tell the pills have done their job, because I don't feel hyper anymore. "I am so sorry! Was it me killing a raccoon that upset you? Listen, I love wildlife, but a raccoon took my brothers eye out, so I don't exactly love them. I am sorry, forgive me? Actually, lets start over. Hi, I am Hermione Easteallas, the daughter of Harmen Easteallas, owner of one of the Lumber Lovers lumber companies."I feel more mature now. This girl must think I am mentally stupid. Crap. I really am immensely smart, its just my ADHD that can make me appear stupid. I make nothing but A's in school. I hope she sees that I more normal now. And that she doesn't judge me.

This girl has a wicked personality! She can be all crazy one moment but... normal the next. Man Veckton is right! Always give somebody a chance. They can change. They can be likable. My brother is crazy! But this girl has us restarting. I will give her another chance. She seems to be nice and in control now. "Hi Hermione. I am Fenton Rauley. My parents don't own any business. But I do lots of construction and work at the mill a lot too! I can understand why you probably hate raccoons. If a raccoon to an eye out of my brother, I would hunt all of them down and destroy them!"I can't help but laugh a bit. Hermione isn't really that bad of a girl. i could get used to this anyway!

"Yea, I know right? But otherwise, I do love animals, Fenton!",I say to her. She seems nice. Very clean, raised well."So, how long have you worked at the mill? I mean, I work at the lumber sites, but I have only visited the mill. What is it like working there?, I ask her.

It is beautiful out today, so I slightly tilt up my head to absorb the sunlight. Birds and squirrels fly and skitter by. They are adorable. I feel the cool breeze make a curtain, a blanket around my skin, fully enveloping me in cool, soft air that smells of trees. Seeder, Oak, Redwood, Vine. All so beautiful.

i have always hated working at the mill. day's like today were why I was in a good mood. So I answer honestly"The mill sucks! It is hot, smelly, and noisy. No time for conversation, or make any friends! Just work. That is why I love working at the construction sites!"I manage to put in a smile. After mentioning the mill, I always seemed disgusted. So smiling makes me feel a whole lot better. Maybe this girl could turn out to be an awesome friend!

"Sorry for your luck!", I say to her. The mill must really suck if this girl is dissing it. She seems strong, like the kind of girl who wouldn't really complain about things like working, just a tough girl. I think I like this girl, she is a keeper, she just looks like she would be a really awesome friend.

I have the day off today, as it is a Wednesday and I work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, unless there is an emergency like someone calling in sick. Which almost never happens.

"Hey, Fenton, maybe I could come to the mill today. Today is my day off, I could help you with your work, take the weight of that off your shoulders as best as I can!", I offer. The poor girl looks exhausted already.

I stop and stare at Hermione. I find this quite amusing. Dissing work, and having this girl instead of me! She wouldn't be able to handle it! Anyways, she is not the girl who would be doing this crap! She will regret it, but it is worth a try! I smirk a little. Maybe this could happen!"So you want to test your skills at the mill? Listen to me now Hermione, you will regret this whole decision. But you have an axe. Go if you want to!"I was more then satisfied with not working. I was always curious what Veckton does at this hour. So I gave Hermione a big smile. I gestured toward the direction of the mill. But just in case, I might need to take her for a walk."Let me show you the way"

We are taking a nice, peaceful walk to the mill. I see another raccoon. I panic a bit. I do not want Hermione to murder another innocent creature. That specific one did not almost devour her brother. So I tried to scare it away. I shout real loud, and the raccoon scampered off. I grinned at Hermione. Yes, I could be a bit weird at times.
