(Any peacekeepers wanna come get this rule breaker, be my guest)
The mayor started to say that it was now time to pick two tributes. Nick reached behind his back and took out an arrow. Then Nick’s cold hands reached down and buried themselves into the snow. The hunter’s bow emerged from the now as he quickly took his hands out of the freezing snow. He felt like putting his hands in his pockets tow warm themselves up, but no, it wasn’t the time. He quickly loaded his arrow before anyone would notice. Some of the audience turned their heads to see a boy aiming a bow at the Mayor. Some of them gasped, which caused a chain of more people looking over. ”Ladies first,” the bastard who called himself a mayor said. As Nick took a deep breath, he felt his nose hairs freeze slightly, giving him an uncomfortable feeling. As he pulled back the string, the mayor announced, ”Daniella Lamonde!”
As he heard Daniella’s name, the emotion, rage, blew throughout his mind. He let go. Peacekeepers gasped as the arrow plunged through the Mayor’s chest. It was almost like he was just assassinated… Well, he guessed it kind of was. People were frozen. Their faces full of shock, they didn’t even move. Quickly dropping his bow, he pushed his way through the large crowd. Getting onto the stage, he ran over to the now corpse of the mayor. Looking down at his kill, the mayor’s surprised face quickly morphed into a buck’s dead head. It then changed back and then back again. It kept going on like that until it was like it changed every time the boy blinked. Finally, it stayed as the buck and didn’t change. Nick had finally returned to reality.
Even though he realized it was just a nice day dream, Nick kicked the deer as hard as he could, still imagining it was the Mayor. Fuck the Capitol. And with that thought, he ignored the pain in his foot that eventually went numb due to the cold snow. Life had taken everything away from him. It took his mother. It took his abusive father. Even though he was a cruel abusive man, he still loved him as a father. And now to top it off, it took away Daniella, one who he really cared about. He missed everything about her; the way that she made him smile; the way she reacted to his smile; everything, just everything. And now he would have to watch that beautiful girl of his get killed by other guys and girls. Oh how the thought sickened him.
It was sad, how he would never see Daniella again. He would never kiss those soft lips of hers. He would never be able to see her beautiful smile that always made him happy. The expression on Nick’s face changed from angry to sorrow. The whole situation sucked. It sucked even more since he could do nothing to help. Luck never was on Nick’s side, and he knew that. Oh how he wished he was alive back then, when the Hunger Games didn’t exist. That was a long time ago, but he still wished he lived in that time area.
Glaring at the dead deer, he backed away. This wasn’t him at all. He never abused animals, and to top it off, he never imagined they were real people. What was the Capitol turning him into…? His hand rose to his forehead, softly touching it to calm down a serious head ache. It was strange how he just got one. There was barely any noise in the forest. I remember the days where I could hunt with no stress at all… But that was in the old days. Now the forests started to become banned from others. Hell, Nick was in one right now. He could get arrested, though the teenager didn’t care. He wouldn’t give a shit if he was captured or beaten. He didn’t care at all. Life sucked for him anyways, so why shouldn’t he just add onto the misery?
Nick, without thinking, walked over to the nearest and tree and rested his back against it. A soft sigh escaped his lips. He needed to calm down. He really needed to. So much stress was inside his head. Sliding his back against the tree, he slowly descended his body towards the ground. He was now in a sitting position, where his back rested against the tree. It was a comfortable position. He would actually enjoy it if he could just make his mind go blank. He could freeze to death if he just sat there. That would be a bummer. Oh well, if it happened, it happened. He had nothing to look forward to anyways. He was never an optimist, he could tell you that. Closing his eyes, Nick tried to relax.
