Michael was cleaning the dining tables at the Woodland Inn while his brother Alex mopped the floor. He was in front entrance of the inn which was a large room with several tables. There was a fire place at one end, a bar in the other corner, and opposite of the door was a check in counter. The whole front of the inn was covered in windows that looked out on district 9's square and then farther on, the woods. This place was a common gathering place in the winter because the fire was always going, and if you bought a meal the inn owner, Ms. Wilson, would let you sleep in the dining hall.
He didn't pay much attention to what he was doing, it was a mindless job, but whatever money he could get would help. Michael looked out the window at the forest. He saw some squirrels running down a tree and two birds doing areal loops and dives with each other. He wished he was outside today, he didn't like being cooped up. He would have been a lot more happy in District 9 if there was more stuff to do. Instead it was wake up, eat, school, work, eat, sleep. On the weekends he replaced the school and work with going into the small group of trees forest in his back yard. He was just getting bored, he needed some action! On the spur of the moment he took the damp rag he was cleaning with and threw it at Alex, his brother, who was mopping. The rag hit Alex with a loud SLAP!
"Hey!?!?" yelled Alex who was surprised more than than angry.
"Sorry," said Michael. "I was having a spur of the moment type thing."
"Oh I'll give you a spur of the moment," Alex said, "right up your as-." With that he brandish his mop like a sword and charged.
"Watch it!" yelled Michael was he leaped over a table to avoid being hit by the mop sword.
"Spur of the moment," said Alex sneering as he trapped Michael in a corner. Michael looked around frantically looking for a way out but there was none and Alex was slowly advancing with the wet side of the mop pointed at his head. Just as it looked like Michael was about to have wet mop for lunch the door to the inn opened.
