Mail hardly came by in District 9. After all, who could afford such a luxury as paper in such large loads? The reasoning behind this moment did not matter. All that mattered was that you got a flier-slash-invitation thing nailed to your door as early as 3AM, maybe the time which you woke up to go hunting - if you were still a hunter, of course.

When you read over the flier-slash-invitation thing, you could not quite get it. It seemed profession-ist to those that worked in the new industry for District 9; however, the thing clearly stated...

Allow me to introduce myself. I am known as the Beastmaster in the little contest, and I want YOU to join with me. Why, do you ask? Why? And what does this contest entail? I shall reveal right now! Your job in this tournament is to show your mastery of the animals and hunt them for meat. You shall then give the meat to me; I shall judge and kick out the one that has the least - or even none, goodness! - disqualifying them permanently for the rest of the contest. Simple, ain't it? Show those muscles, men! Show those skills, ladies! It's a lot of fun, and all for some cool prize! Upon winning, the winner will receive FIVE YEARS of food. (The best part is: it doesn't matter how many live in your family in those five years!) That's right! Five years, free food! You can slack off for a while (just don't get caught by those pesky Capitol people!). Become the next Beastmaster and be the greatest of all hunters! Even if you never had any experience, no sweat! It's great fun for all! (For you kids, you better get permission; I don't want to get in trouble by your parents!) Anyone in District 9 can join the CHAMPIONSHIP OF BEASTMASTERS, and there is no entry fee to participate. You win or you lose, but at least you get to go home with all your money intact if you lose! We shall provide free healing services, tents, and weapons for all participants. We will confiscate concealed items and weapons not accepted by our staff. (We may be allowed on Capitol grounds, but you still play by our Capitol-mandated rules! Failure to follow might end up with disastrous results!) You stare intently at the paper. No matter who you are - man, child, woman, old person - you still must make a decision: to join or not? It sounds like a lot of fun - and there are no fees or repercussions of joining. All the stuff is provided for you for the contest.

The contest has come to District 9! As such, we must lay down some rules:

• You must have a character from District 9. Anyone will do (factory worker or hunter, even though it's a hunting activity) but you must have a District 9 character. You may create a D9 character specifically for the plot
  
• The plot does involve death. Treat this like the Hunger Games; your character may be killed. By signing up, you give us permission to kill your characters
  
• No outside weapons, healing items, or items that would result in helping the hunter win more kills. You will be instantly killed
  
• While not all rules that might get your characters killed are listed, here is one major hint: the Beastmaster likes fairness and no cheating of any sort
  
• Information will be updated over time; I will notify when an update has occurred by posting in this thread
  
• Most - if not all - threads will take place in the Battlefield, due to this being a plot that involves fighting/the fighting system
  

Actual contest rules:

• Spanning over days, the death count will accumulate
  
• To survive each day, you must not have the least amount of meat - or have zero to offer. For example, if you happened to have the least (let's say 1 lb.), you are killed. Anyone that has 0 is automatically killed.
  
• Animals are given to each hunter by randomizer; though rare, there is a slight chance of getting NO animals (thus insta-kill by end of day); may luck be on your side!
  
• Depending on the amount of people, this part will change; this is for how many real-life days for each contest day (the actual end date for each contest day will be announced in update posts)
  
• This plot may be subjected to random events
  
• After each hunting day, hunters may decide on using the tents to cut down damage to half or may not use the tents (no health benefits)
  
• Healing occurs overnight as well. There is a deduction of 7 damage points if you used the tent; there is 4 if you didn't
  
• Weapons are provided
  

If you would like to sign up, please post in this thread by April the 16th. Remember that your character may die!
EDIT: We are extending this time for those that are making characters by an extra week and half. Now go for April the 26th until further updates!

Now would really be a perfect time to hurry your butts in if you still want to join, since nothing eventful is really happening.
