.:appearance~
A son born to two ominous has-been Career parents, Seaborgium is abnormally tall at best. Everybody in his family has inherited that tall trait - even his younger twin brothers, who both currently stand at just under six feet tall at age thirteen. He reaches an intimidating six feet, seven inches tall, weighing in at about 200 pounds. He doesn't carry an abnormal amount of muscle or strength, but his strong suits are long distance running and swimming, as he favors endurance over the sheer power that others often admire. His limbs are spindly and strong enough, but oftentimes he finds himself overpowered in training by more able figures. To the common eye he looks weak and powerless, but his muscles are at least strong enough to carry him for distances on foot and in the water when training.
An odd occurrence living amidst a family of dark-haired people, Seah was the one child born with light-colored, thin hair. His entire family has either black or brown hair, and in this case he is easily the black sheep of the lot. Throughout the year it never lightens or darkens, always staying the same plain dirty-blond-like color, even in the summer months when he spends even more time outdoors than usual. His hair sits neatly and softly atop his head, somewhat easier to deal with than the mops of curly hair that his brothers inherited. How he outwardly looks is never much of a concern for him, though he becomes more aware of himself with the judgmental glances of others that lead him to doubt himself. He doesn't particularly look ugly, but he isn't exactly handsome either.
The face is probably at the root of his plainness, with a large, pointed nose sitting straight in the middle of it all, bushy eyebrows that are a tad darker than his hair color, lips that are thin and chapped from hours spent outdoors, and a high forehead to top it all off. His ears are big and obvious when his hair doesn't cover them up - which is the majority of the time - and at times his prominent chin is dotted with acne and dirt. His eyes, however, when they are not seemingly cold and unhappy-looking, are a light and pleasant green, sometimes even appearing to be gray.
In fact, he generally takes good care of himself, if not for the time that he spends outdoors. His clothes are plain and often covered in dirt or simply unclean, as he usually recycles shirts and pants for a few days before he decides to wash them. The unbearable stench of the ocean and the fish is a normal thing for him, so he doesn't usually notice it when his clothes smell horrible. His family isn't exactly the richest of families, even though they eat well enough, and they can't afford much of anything that is new or fancy when it comes to clothing. The rule is to wear what fits you and pass anything too small down to the younger siblings, and give away anything that is completely out of the question. Seah's clothes are plain and usually they never quite fit correctly, either being too big or a little too small. Tee shirts and jeans are pretty much the extent of it, along with any shoes that fit him. He has two pairs of tennis shoes and a pair of loafers for nicer occasions, all of which are a bit worn around the edges.

Seaborgium has a peculiar reliance on others that shows itself in the worst of situations, mostly when he should really be relying on himself. Career training situations, school, fishing, all of them are difficult for him without someone there to guide him and tell him what to do or teach him. Even after he learns something and he uses his newly found skill, he'll look to his superiors to confirm that he is doing something correctly, whether it be a training technique or a fishing skill. Luckily, however, he almost always has somebody by his side to show him what to do. It has become a comfortable routine for him, although it drives him to fail in school. Combined with the fact that he learns quite a bit slower than most other people, he often gets left behind in school as his teachers simply don't have the time or care to make sure that he learns everything. Along with that, he has difficulty making decisions without somebody there to make the decisions for him, and he will sit back and let other people take control whenever possible. When he has to function alone, he does so awkwardly and inefficiently. He'll take quite a bit of time to think about what to do, and most of the time he makes poor decisions. This reliance on other people is caused solely by his low self-confidence and his indecisiveness. He has little faith in himself to do much of anything correctly, so he looks to other people to give him assurance and to make him feel better. He's quite the compliment-fisher when he's feeling down, and he almost always makes it blatantly obvious that he just wants somebody to tell him that he's not horrible.
The boy is lonely at best, but at the same time he is unwilling and afraid to reach out to people. Talking to people that he hasn't formed a careful, comfortable relationship with already is difficult, and he often finds himself closing down and saying little or nothing to people around him. He doesn't hate or resent them, but rather he is simply indifferent to every person that doesn't belong in his safe bubble of human communication. He is the center of his own world, though only to a point at which he fails to really communicate or care about those around him. He expects fully for people to come to him and attempt to communicate with him rather than putting himself out there, and even when people do he takes a painfully slow pace on the road to feeling comfortable around them. He's not one to put himself out there, as he hates taking chances and will never stray away from anything comfortable unless he absolutely needs to.
Pessimistic thoughts and cautious actions rule the Career's entire life, but he is perfectly content that way. He is not free or wild or particularly imprudent, though hope is a thing existing in another world entirely. It is never "this can go right," but rather "this is definitely going to go wrong." He is hardly ever disappointed, as he hardly ever has any hope in the positive side of the situation. When something does go right, it is simply a pleasant surprise. A part of it is natural - being the safe player that he is - but a part of it was forced into his mind by his parents ever since he was young. It's a Career trait gone horribly wrong. The purpose was to teach him caution when approaching a situation, but it was the one thing that he was taught perhaps too well. Not only is it a part of the reason for his social incompetence, but it shapes his entire view of things. His pessimism and caution aren't exactly bad things - he avoids difficult situations most of the time - but it isn't exactly pleasant to cut down hopes as he often does.
However, the situation is entirely different when he begins to trust somebody. The very moment that he feels comfortable around someone, no matter how long that might take, he clings to them like he would a life preserver if he were drowning in the surrounding waters of District Four. To some it could be obnoxious, the way that he constantly looks for them to talk to or the way that he doesn't seem to leave. To those that stick around and deal with the reliance, he is loyal and devoted. To friends he is not fickle, nor is he to family members or people that he trains and works with. It's all a matter of becoming comfortable around people, and in time he slowly begins to do so. He's not particularly talkative, but at least he can hold up a decent conversation with some people.
Even if somebody is being particularly mean to him, he will shy away from them, never doing much to stand up for himself because he is afraid, intimidated, and most likely insulted to the point where he is beginning to doubt himself. He will walk away from any social conflict, though he will take any comments against him to heart. However, the situation is different when he is physically attacked, if ever. Though he can be weakened by any emotional attack, he won't hesitate to defend himself in a physical fight. This is simply taken from years of training to do so - his parents taught him to never back down from an attack. Had he not been trained to do so, he would completely avoid any conflict whatsoever.
.:history~
Just as he wanders through much of life without fully being noticed, Seah was born at a time when the Hunger Games were arriving yet again, and people - even some of his older, now deceased, family members - were not aware of his birth until a few weeks after the fact. He came early to his parents, and was a small and ordinary little being. He was the first child to a pair of Careers - both never chosen for the Games - though his eighteen-year-old uncle was Reaped just before his birth. The entire family was jubilant that they would finally have somebody to compete for them, but their hopes were completely gone on day one when the boy made a silly mistake and was slaughtered within the first five minutes after stepping from his plate. Years of training, and it all led up to that. And so the outrage and mourning began, and then Seaborgium was born. It was emotional and difficult time for his parents and his family in general, but in time everything slowed down and reality began to sink in. They had a son, their first son, and it was time to raise him correctly. They were clueless.
And so the first few years of Seah's life were eventful for his parents, though eventually it became easier - at least while their son was not a fully functioning human being. As he grew older and he began to talk and walk and think for himself, it became apparent that neither of could raise a child properly. They did not play or talk or coddle him as much as other parents did, rather going about their own lives and working hours out in the water while they left their son with his aunt to watch over him. As he became older and more aware he saw them a bit more, but he was slowly starting to become a bit detached.
When his parents were there for him, it never seemed as if they cared much. It was always about work and preparing and fishing to support their family, and they always failed to see their son right in front of them. He did anything and everything to try to impress them - as if somehow showing them how proficient he was would make them pay more attention - though he most often failed. Fishing, Career training, school - he was slow and difficult to work with through all of them. He has all but given up on school, though fishing and career training actually seem of great use to him. He enjoys the time spent fishing with his parents, though he's more of a general nuisance than anything else when trying to actually help them. Career training is where he spends the real majority of his time, and his parents praise him for it.
But then he was not entirely alone in the world, especially after a few years when his two brothers were born. He relied heavily on his aunt when she was there, and she is still one of the only people in the world that he fully trusts. She played with him and paid attention to him when his parents did not, and he still talks to her more than he does his actual parents. It's not that he holds any animosity towards them, but rather that he simply feels more comfortable talking to her than he does his parents. He is fully aware that his parents love him, but simply wishes that they would put the effort into talking to him more. It's the same way with his younger brothers, though they throw exaggerated fits at just about every moment that they don't have the spotlight turned towards them. They train as Careers as well, and as much as he doesn't want to admit it, Seah knows that they overshadow him in training. They're not better or stronger, but rather his parents believe that they will make better decisions in difficult situations if given the chance, which is undoubtedly true.
The boy's parents never got the chance to volunteer or participate in the Games, and they still harbor silly dreams of being the stars and bringing pride to their family and their District. The years have long since past in which that would be possible, and so they put all of their hope into Seah, who willingly cooperates for the praise and attention that he gains from it. The topic of Seaborgium's uncle is thrown away at every opportunity, as his parents choose to ignore that the problem ever occurred, even if they do miss his presence. Losing is not an option to them, and yet that boy lost and it's not something to dwell upon. The time is the present, and now they worry about the boys' training. The competition from his brothers only muddies up the situation, and he often tries to outshine them. It has become a common idea that killing other teenagers is not wrong, and it hasn't ever bothered him. He grew up among so many Careers that never got the chance to prove themselves, and so all attention was put onto the boys to perform and to train. Seah is something like a puppet, doing whatever his parents insist and mindlessly training and preparing for a day that will probably never come anyways.
