Age: 14
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 7
Appearance:
Noelle is about 5'4'', which is pretty average for her age. She weighs about 105 pounds, which is also average, at least for her living conditions. Her gingery red hair reaches a few inches past her shoulder; in fact, it has an odd texture to it. Her hair isn't necessarily thick, nor is it thin; however, it always seems to be wavy and untidy, to the point where it starts to annoy her. So, she often wears her hair up in order to stop it from getting in her face. She has slight sidebangs; however, they also seem to irritate her to the point where she majorly regrets them. Noelle has glowing green eyes, but sometimes, they can look a little blue. So much goes on in her eyes: too many emotions are reflected by them. Her eyes are honest: honest to the point where she can't hide her feelings beneath them. With just one look into Noelle's eyes, a person could probably know everything they wanted to about her; with one look, Noelle is vulnerable, almost never able to hide a secret. Her eyes give her away, though, she is trying her best to improve on hiding secrets beneath her eyes. Gradually, her eyes are becoming less honest: though, only gradually. Noelle's eyebrows compliment her eyes in a very indistinct way; they are extremely light in color; they highlight the emotions in her eyes. Her eyelashes, on the other hand, aren't quite too lovely looking. They're a bit too short for her liking, and do not naturally curl in the same direction. However, this is barely noticed anyways.
Noelle has pale white skin that never tans, but instead, is easily burnt. Across her skin, she has many distinct freckles. They are varied, some etching across her face, some down her arms, and many of different sizes and shades. Noelle's smile is sweet, though also very honest. Her smile had always been contagious, along with her laugh. Though, seeing Noelle smile has become less frequent. Her smile has a lot of different "colors" to it though, depending on her mood. Noelle's laugh is something that almost no one can stop from smiling at. Her laugh is warm, just like her smile. Noelle has strong legs from running, while her arm strength deeply contradicts this; she has little strength in her arms. Her hands and her feet are both fairly small for her.
Personality:
Noelle has always been extremely outgoing. Shyness is only a problem when she is dealing with boys, and yet only sometimes. Noelle isn't afraid to speak out; speaking out is in fact, her passion. She rarely cares about what others think of her, as long as she can be herself. Noelle always stands up for what she believes, and refuses to back down. Some say it's merely stubborness, which is partly true. Noelle is quite stubborn, only because she always has her goal in mind. She is quite inflexible at times; though, this seems to change a lot, for sometimes, she makes different decisions last second. However, fearless is the best word to describe her. She does have quite a few fears, for everyone does, although it is the fact that she is always able to overcome her fears, that makes her fearless. She is willing to try anything, which sometimes turns out to be quite dangerous on her part.
In all, Noelle is a very unexpected person. She is extremely loyal, though sometimes, change around her: new feelings, new experiences, seem to change her view. She's always seemed to stick by people naturally; though, as of Ruby's death, this changed in her. She realized she couldn't keep following others, and needed to please herself sometimes. As of late, she has also become quite confused with herself and with her own feelings. Naturally, she has a selfless streak to her; though, seeing the big picture, the world as it is, has brought her to do more for herself, rather than for others. Sometimes, she gets stuck in her own thoughts, debating whether she should help others or herself in a certain situation.
Noelle can be a bit rough sometimes, and doesn't follow the same behavior patterns as many girls. Some call her a tomboy. She used to love to laugh and let herself loose, though not much anymore. Noelle is nice enough--though in recent years, she has started slipping away. Sometimes she's alright, but sometimes she can't help but let her past affect her. She used to be determined to live her life to the fullest and accomplish her dreams of changing the world. She used to be a true leader, enlightening people every day. Hope still lives with her, but she can't help but accept the insanity that is trying to take over her mind. Sometimes, she lets herself fall into serious periods of depression. She always picks herself back up though; yet, it's hard, with everything she has gone through in her life. She can't always tell who she is anymore; sometimes she's convinced that she's too weak, although this is not always mentally true. She spends most of her time thinking, less talking. Her previous positive attitude dissappears sometimes, while rain clouds take place of her sun. Happiness is harder for her to find, and she spends much more time looking for it. She seems to find it at some point though; she is strong in the respect that she can always get up, can always fight back, and can always find her way home.
Noelle is also very honest: painfully honest. She isn't necessarily afraid to tell people what she thinks. Sometimes, she just can't help herself. When she wants people knowing the truth, when it becomes a passion, she can't hold it in. Sometimes, she's better at hiding the truth though: when she is positive she wants to keep it hidden, and when nothing is stopping her. Noelle works too hard sometimes, while other times, she lets loose a bit too much. Though, Noelle can be thoughtful when she is in the moment--she is also quite clever. Tricks and games amuse her, for she can get quite competitive. Sometimes, her competitive nature starts to blur her previous thoughts and beliefs. She wants to reach the end...she wants to win. This can ignite a bit of selfishness; although, she usually ends up realizing this. Though, she loves adventure; she thirsts for adventure, and hates not being able to grasp it with both hands. She also gets a bit overconfident in certain situations, and this starts to blur her thoughts also. Still, her confidence tends to die down naturally. Often, Noelle can be empathic, while other times, she forgets about others and their thoughts. It's a confusing on and off cycle for her. She believes that she knows who she is, but really, many times she does not.
History:
Being in a family with nine children (originally 10) Noelle often feels left out. She is the 5th born, so she has 3 older siblings and 5 younger. Her parents had only seven of them though, for when Noelle was about six, they adopted two twin boys, almost two years younger than Noelle, herself. Her parents had originally thought the idea of having lots of children was great; soon, though, they obviously started to regret having so many, when they realized how hectic it was. Her parents are both very stressed people, always complaining about everything they have to do. Noelle barely gets to talk to her parents for they're so busy. She has always felt a bit ignored, and has learned how to be independent enough to take care of herself when her parents weren't around. This means, she makes and has made, a lot of decisions on her own. Though, Noelle always knew her parents cared for her somehow; she held onto that hope, at least. Sometimes she forgot this because of the very small amount of attention they had always given to her, and even the unsupportive comments her father made. However, they still supported the entire family; they never gave up, which shows that they do love Noelle, along with the rest of her siblings.Codeword: muttations
Noelle's family is quite poor because of the many people living in the house, and the many mouths to feed. Sometimes, Noelle enjoyed the company of her siblings, of the many people in her family. Though, sometimes she hated being stuck in the shadows. She wanted adventure, which was something that her family could, and couldn't give her. She usually escaped the house when she got bored of the nonstop arguments, questions, shouts, discussions, and overall, chaos. She spent her days at a small creek she found when she was a little girl wandering alone. Noelle loved the creek; she never knew why it was so special to her when she was little, but somehow, it was like her little imaginary home, the place where everything went right. When she was only a young child, she would always find joy in catching small toads when she found them during the day, and then catching fireflies at night. She would try to build forts in the tall grass, playing hide-and-seek with no one but herself. Though, she couldn't help thinking about how, even as she had her imagination to play with, she had no one to share it with.
When Noelle was seven, her older sister, Jenanine, was diagnosed with cancer. It was then that the family had become extremely supportive, trying to do everything they could for Jenanine. Noelle knew, then, even being seven, that her family was there for her, even though she often forgot it. However, cancer was unavoidable and the Pines had absolutely no money for treatment so Jenanine died only a bit later, at twelve years old. Noelle felt lonely without Jenanine; being seven, it was a hard fact to handle. She stopped going to the creek for a while, telling herself there were more important things than her imagination, convincing herself that she was selfish to think she could just escape from her family like that, as close as the creek was. Though, one day, Noelle decided to go back; she was eight years old. When she arrived at the creek, she saw another girl there, swimming serenely in the water. Noelle, not knowing better at the time, got a bit upset that someone had found her secret place. She told the girl to leave, but the girl wouldn't. Both of them being quite stubborn, they got in a fight, which obviously, ended quite quickly. Eight-year olds didn't hold grudges for long. It was then that they became friends...it started with a fight, where they had both stood up for themselves.
Noelle also used to have a hobby of painting until she was nine years old when her dad told her she needed to stop wasting her time with it. He told her she was no good. It broke her heart, and slowly she drifted away from her passion for art; she knew there were so many more important things, though she truly missed painting. Sometimes, she came back to her paintings, and tried again. Her dad hadn't really meant what he said, but Noelle had always known their relationship was strained anyways. Noelle lived through the hardships that she faced with her family though. She was mostly a positive thinker. Even Ruby helped Noelle through it. Though, one year, Ruby was picked for the games--she ended up dying. This broke Noelle--she could barely handle it. It was a major loss for Noelle; the first step to insanity. Noelle began to hate the games--another year, one of her other friends was reaped, and she was left watching them die. Then...Noelle, herself was reaped. This brought total shock to her. Insanity escaped her at that moment, at that reaping. Luckily, someone volunteered to take her place. But the thoughts, the nightmares, the memories: they never left Noelle. She tried her best to stay strong and brave, but who was she kidding? She'd seen enough hurting in her life.
