Addy is light. Very light. Her hair is thin and straight and short and auburn. Her facial features convey neutrality, with the exception of her eyes, which are an iron blue; her left eye is blind, which leaves her without depth perception or good distance vision. Her body is thin, but not wasted. She is reasonably well-muscled, with very little excess fat. In the summer, Addy appears rugged and is coated with freckles; in the winter, her skin pales to the point of insubstantiability. Addy measures 5'5" and weighs 105 pounds.

Personality:

Addy is an introverted extrovert. To strangers, she is friendly and bland and forgettable. She has difficulty showing people how she feels; since Addy is eccentric by nature, her normal speech and actions tend to put people off. So she saves her artistic impulses and humor for a few close friends and her older brother Lee, who she is extremely close to. And, of course, for the horses.

Addy's emotions are often fabricated or superficial, and as such she does not 'control' them per se - she's prone to sudden mood swings that tend to leave those around her thoroughly confused. Few things in life capture her passion aside from horses; in fact, Addy is an empty shell of a mind, composed of different elements that never quite fit together: ardent love of horses, desire to rebel, fear of authority, determination to stick to her meaningless principles. She'll form an opinion on a whim and stand by it no matter what, growing petty and defensive toward anyone who tries to convince her otherwise. She abhors the idea of being told what to do by her equals, yet does not mind chastising them for anything she finds threatening to their situation because she is so terrified of even mild consequences of her actions. Adelaide craves emotional safety and sheltering from the big bad world and she usually gets that from two things: horses and her unshakable beliefs. Vegetarianism is one of these - she's abstained from meat-eating for most of her life after witnessing her father kill a horse first-hand, yet it's been so long that it's no longer an ethical stance; merely a regulation she can cling to. Being a vegetarian gives her something - someone - to be.

History:

Addy's all-consuming passion in life is horses. Her family breeds and raises horses for slaughter. The meat is shipped all over Panam; there is little demand for it in District 5. Occasionally, her family will raise a riding horse specifically for a frivolous child of a Peacekeeper. Addy's chief job in the family is to care for and sometimes ride her family's horses until they are large enough for slaughter. Addy has one horse of her own, a lean one which has little muscle or fat and so was not useful for the slaughter business. His name is Comet; though Addy grows close to all the horses at the barn, she loves Comet the most of all.

I know right? I'm a total horse person, and I hate the idea of horse slaughter, but sometimes you have to write about things you hate.
Plus, realistically, horses probably would be used for meat if there was a demand for it. And at least her family doesn't do slaughter the way the factories do it nowadays.
