Drynis has shaggy, shoulder length brown hair that looks like it was cut with a hunting knife, because it was. His green eyes are almost always glaring if he isn't around animals. He is in good shape from hiking in the forests and mountains around District 5 and from riding his horse, Raine. Drynis almost always wears a black bandana that covers his nose and mouth, and wears simple yet rugged clothes. His skin is scarred and on the pale side.

Personality:

Drynis strongly prefers the company of animals over the company of humans. He has always had something special with animals that makes them naturally trust him. He would never harm an animal, and would probably be more likely to hurt a human over an animal. Drynis isn't a vegetarian, but he can't bear the thought of killing animals himself. Whenever he gets the chance, Drynis will take back trails out into the mountains and forests with his horse, Raine. The wildlife around District 5 trust him and are more than willing to be around him. He has never known what it's like to be loved by people, coming from a family that doesn't want him. Drynis only has one human friend, one of the head livestock herders who he knows from working for him. Drynis isn't especially social and isn't very willing to make friends.

History:

Drynis's parents always wanted a little girl. When Drynis came along first, they were disappointed. They felt they had some sort of obligation to take care of him, but they did it reluctantly. They only went as far as giving him limited amounts of food and a cot on the back porch, preferring to save the spare bedroom for the little girl they hoped they'd have. Drynis attempted to gain their love and attention, but they always ignored him. When Drynis's little sister, Angel, came along, Drynis knew it was all over. From then on, his parents refused to even consider him family and now only give him the leftover scraps that the dog doesn't eat first and his little cot on the back porch. Drynis refuses to starve, however. With the help of some of the wildlife, he learned where to find edible plants. He also got some meat from his employer and friend, Uris. Uris also gave Drynis his horse as a birthday present when he turned eight. That was the only birthday present Drynis ever got. Despite her parents' discouragement, Angel, now five, wants Drynis to be included in the family. At this point, Drynis doesn't want anything to do with Angel because he considers her the reason why his life is such a mess.
