Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me, in your memory
Remember, when your dreams have ended
Time can be transcended
Just remember me
I am the one star that keeps burning, so brightly,
It is the last light, to fade into the rising sun
As long as you hold me, in your memory
Remember, when your dreams have ended
Time can be transcended
Just remember me
I am the one star that keeps burning, so brightly,
It is the last light, to fade into the rising sun
[/blockquote]The world fades slowly as the darkness threatens to envelope me for good. Not again. I lean over the table and throw up everything in my stomach. I've been staying in the healer's shack for what seems like 2 weeks. My sense of time is not very reliable as of late , so I'm not really sure on the exact time. I'm not deluded ; I know the end is coming. "More medicine!" The healer says ,shoving the mixture of herbs down my throat. I don't know why she bothers. We all know I'm going to die. Even my mom knows , no matter how much she tries to forget about it. District 11 just doesn't have the technology to save me.
I can imagine what will happen once I'm gone. My mom will be very depressed. Everyone else? They probably won't even blink an eye. I finger the bed sheet as I begin to drift in and out of consciousness again. I feel forces pulling me under and pulling back. I decide to give in. Not fully , just enough to stop the turmoil in my soul. Rain begins to drum on the roof , and lulls me into a peaceful sleep . Or death. Right now , I'm not really sure which one it is. I tuck my head to the pillow and disconnect from the world.
I'm with you
Whenever you tell, my story
For I am all I've done
Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me, in your memory
Remember me
I am the one voice in the cold wind, that whispers
And if you listen, you'll hear me call across the sky
As long as I still can reach out, and touch you
Then I will never die
Whenever you tell, my story
For I am all I've done
Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me, in your memory
Remember me
I am the one voice in the cold wind, that whispers
And if you listen, you'll hear me call across the sky
As long as I still can reach out, and touch you
Then I will never die
When I wake up , my mum is by my bedside. She's singing softly. "Mum" I croak. "Good, you're up. The healer needs to give you some more herbs." She says in a commanding voice , not at all like her usual quiet tone. "Why are you bothering anyways?" I ask her. "I don't want to let you go down with a fight." she says. " I just love you so much." " I love you too , mom" I say. That's all I get to say before the tears start to stream down my mother's face. I'd be crying too , if I had the strength.
I lean back into the mattress and attempt to forget about my imminent death that awaits me. I watch the people in the orchards pluck the apples from the branches. I see animals preparing their homes for the approaching winter. I wish I could be like a bird. They don't have to worry about the hunger games , or being poor. Basically , they have the life that everyone in district 11 dreams of. Although , I guess once I die , I won't need any of that. However, I can't possibly know what comes after death. I guess I didn't do a very good job of keeping myself from thinking about death.
Remember, I'll never leave you
If you will only
Remember me
Remember me...
Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me
In your memory
If you will only
Remember me
Remember me...
Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me
In your memory
My mother asks. I forgot that she was still here. " I don't know if I'm exactly fine , but I think I'm okay with the fact that I'm going to die." I say , trying to stay strong for my mothers sake. "No I'm not!" I say , begging to weep into my pillow. "I'm only 10! I'm not even at reaping age and I'm already going to be dead!" I yell , as loudly as my voice will allow. "At least you can rest knowing that you lived life to the fullest." she says. Even though the words aren't much , the're something to hold onto in my remaining minutes."Are you ok , Cattleya?"
Truth to be told , I feel so terrible that my time must be coming to a close. Just let me die. Right here while there is still peace. I begin to think about all the things I never got to do. I wish I could have met my dad , became a teenager , heck , I wanted to get married and have kids. In the shadows of sickness , I think about how I never did get to lead an uprising. I guess that I'll have to leave that to the good people of the future.
I curl up into the sheets and take my mothers hand. "Is this your time?" She whispers. "Unfortunately , I think it is." I say. I give her hand a quick squeeze. I start to let myself go , to bring death to me. I feel the darkness begin to whisper to me , just like it has in passing the last few weeks. The souls of the already deceased call to me , helping me into the next land. Another world. A great new place for me to explore and discover. Hopefully with some new friends. Finally. I whisper. Not to anyone in particular , just the darkness itself. I think no more before I am swallowed up , finally enveloped by the darkness.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
Remember, when your dreams have ended
Time can be transcended
I live forever
Remember me
Time can be transcended
I live forever
