"I am completely and utterly useless."
Yes, that phrase just about summed up Gray's life. Was there anything he was good for? Besides being the trophy son his parents always wanted? He couldn't think of one redeeming quality about himself that wasn't purely physical as he sat, lip bleeding, eye blackened, under a flowering cherry blossom in the park. Why had he chosen to mope and bleed and skulk in one of the nicer parks in the district? Well, it hadn't really been his choice. He liked this park; it was quiet, or at least it had been. Being jumped when you least expected it wasn't fun. At all. Not to mention it had been a four on one fight, and while Gray prided himself on being a good fighter, he wasn't a God, and hadn't stood a chance. Under this tree is just where he'd been left when the guys who'd beat him up got bored of kicking him around.
"I totally deserved it," he moaned miserably, touching his fat lip and gritting his teeth in pain. "I really...ow...really deserved this." The ringleader of the attack, a boy named Joey, had called him gay earlier that week, and Gray had knocked out one of his teeth. He really didn't blame Joey; after all, life for a Career was Train, Train, and Beat up other Careers. He had just been getting even. But now Gray would have to get even as well, and he was in no state to do that at that moment.
People who passed by meerly turned up their noses at him as they walked by, not wanting to look at the bleeding obscenity in their beautiful park. Gray didn't mind so much. At least now he could sit and think. The last thing he wanted was for some Peacekeeper to come and arrest him for being obscenely beaten up or something stupid like that. All he wanted was a little solitude. But it looked as if he wasn't going to get that; even with his eyes closed, he could still hear the footsteps that approached him, and he heaved a sigh as the owner of the footsteps' shadow fell across his body, slumped on the ground.
((Open for anyone to jump in and be the person who just walked up))
