Bella sat at the beach the cool sand under her hands. It was fairly warm today, but not as warm as she would have liked it. She loved it when it was warm, the summertime was her favorite time of year—the sun on her face, the warm breezes running and whipping through the trees. The sun was shining today which is why it was warmer, especially for the winter. Snow was on the ground, but only a light bit of snow, just a dusting. If she could choose how much snow they got it would always be just a dusting, to make everything white and beautiful. It is hard for her to take the winter months—the cold, and chill that rose in the air, but she does make it through every year.
She was taking a break from the time in the shop with her father. It was stuffy in the shop in the winter, with the fire going to keep it nice and warm for whenever costumers came in. Winter was a slower time of year for them, because no one liked to go out in the cold to shop, but at the same time it was their busiest time of year for some things. Warmer clothes especially sold well in the winter, when it got cold people were always in buying up warmer things for when they were out on the water. She didn’t mind working with her father, she actually really liked it, but the day had been going slow and she really wanted just a few moments to herself. She figured her father could watch the store for a while, while she took the time to look out at the chilled water. Another reason she didn’t want to be in the store that day was that her mother and sister were down there working on cleaning and restocking the shelves. She didn’t like really being around her mother and siblings, she loved them of course, but they just didn’t seem to like her too much. She didn’t mind it, she still had her father. She and he were so similar that they had to learn to stick together whenever the family was having an argument, sometimes she wondered why he didn’t side with his wife and other children, but she was always happy to have him on her team.
She closed her eyes as the wind blew in off the water, the crisp wind was her favorite part of the winter; it woke her up and seemed to make her think. That was the only thing about the cold that she honestly liked. She ran her fingers through her blonde hair to fix it after the wind had finished blowing. She had decided to leave it down that day so that it would keep her warms slightly warmer than if she had pulled it up. She wore some jeans, the dark indigo color she liked because it would hold in the heat better than some of her lighter jeans or worse, some of her dresses. She wore some lace up boots to keep her feet warm in the snow, they were not her normal style but she would rather be warm in jeans and boots than cold in dresses and flats. A long sleeved shirt covered her lean arms, it was also a dark color, only this time it was black, once more holding in the heat; a lightweight winter jacket finished her outfit, keeping her warm with the colder weather. All in all her outfit was nothing like she would normally wear. She had found it this morning and decided to put it on, maybe because she didn’t want to be recognized or maybe because she didn’t want to be bothered, it was hard for even her to decide.
