Age: 14

District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Joah never really cared for her appearance, and the result is her long stringy hair. Her navy blue eyes stand out against her light freckled skin, creating an aura of unhealthiness about her. Her almond-shaped eyes are framed with short lashes, and the high arches of her brown eyebrows help give people bad first impressions of her. Her face is shaped like a heart, with a less-than-pointy nose at the very center. Her high cheekbones give her an exceptionally posh look, but in her District things like looks and appearance were discarded as they were of no use to the residents.Personality:
She has a tall and skinny stature, but as much as her long legs and nimble fingers help her immensely at work it can also be a burden. She has a few scars on her legs and arms, which are very noticeable due to her skin color. As for clothing, she would usually wear whichever clothes are available, though she would prefer to wear neater and more decent clothes at times. And also because of her young age and love for leisure, she would make her own clothes out of the lovely woven fabrics her mother brings home every night, adding more to her collection ever week or so.
Joah doesn't really approach people by herself. When she does, though, usually it's because she needs something from them or it's very important that she talked to them. She may seem very quiet, and some might even think of her as rude or arrogant at first glance, but she really is friendly- and a bit loud, too. She is deemed as quite the chatterbox at school because she never really gets to express her thoughts back at home. She's quite funny as well, but maybe not as funny as people who know her would expect her to be.History:
But not everything about Joah is good. She can be quite the little devil when someone annoys her. Her temper, which was probably caused by the state her life is in now, makes her do irrational and inappropriate things. She also has this tendency of expecting and hoping too much, when it's so obvious that it just won't happen, and this impulse of proving that she is the best of the best. Joah always seems to rely on her luck, and she never really does anything that she should unless she really wants to. She does things on impulse, never once considering her actions.
Usually the cause of disagreements between her and her family is her pride. Their arguments happen very often. Another reason for their arguments is because she expects too much from her parents. Joah is single-minded, which will likely be the reason of her downfall. She isn't very receptive to other people's ideas, and if ever she was in the wrong side of an argument she would find a way to bend things into what she wants them to be.
Since Joah was born, people expected so much of her. They said she had potential- what kind of potential? She didn't know. because no one bothered to explain anything to her. They didn't even tell her what they expected of her, which was a mistake. And so she rebelled. She took school seriously, yes, but once she was out of the classroom it was all about having fun. She would do a part-time 4 hour shift at a factory a few miles from their house, but that was probably the only productive thing she did outside the confines of her home.Codeword: odair
Joah's childhood was very... normal. Average. Boring. She didn't expect any better, though, because she was just another poor child at District 8- nothing special. Her eldest brother, Ivor, represented District 8 when she was eight as a male tribute. Joah was dead scared of the games, probably because she knew- and witnessed- of all the violence that took place in it. The bloody death of her brother didn't help lessen her fear any. She respected the Capitol, yes, but the game makers? That's a different story.
Since the day she watched her brother get beaten to death, she had been more apprehensive of the games. When she turned twelve, the overwhelming and foolish feeling of wanting to beat the game makers at their own game overtook her, but all that vanished during the actual reaping. And now two years have passed. She's fourteen, and her name has never been called during the reaping. She hopes it will stay that way, until she becomes of age, but only faith can decide.
