Appearance:
Gavin is a pretty tall dude. He stands at a height of 5'11", towering him above many people in District 4. Despite his constant excursions in the outdoors, Gavin's skin is only lightly tanned. Instead, he easily sunburns, but this is merely due to genetics. Gavin is of a medium weight; He's around 180 lbs, putting him at an advantage against smaller people.
Gavin's hair is a light strawberry blonde color, taking on the hue that could be described as caramel. It's straight, and dangles over his ears. He does have bangs, but they're not long enough to hang below his eyes.
Gavin's facial structure is one that many girls adore. His strong chin, slightly curved nose, and full lips slightly show the resemblance between him and his twin sister, Nila. His ears are of a normal size, and don't stick out in an odd manner. His eyebrows are thick, but he doesn't have a uni-brow or anything.
Gavin has dark green eyes. But unlike his sister's blue eyes, his are duller. It seems like they have no light left in it, as if all of the happiness inside them has drained out. When he looks at you, you can almost sense how much trouble he's been through.
Gavin is strong. He does have muscles, but they aren't protruding out like other people in District 4. His are only visible when he's not wearing a shirt. But since he doesn't let anybody look at him in that circumstance, his muscles are not easily seen by most.
He has a small scar on his right forearm. He got that from his father, who tried to shape him up into a Career. But he wasn't quite good enough, causing him to get cut while defending himself.
[/blockquote]Personality:
Gavin is very independent. Being left alone all his life has taught him street smarts, which he constantly uses to get out of trouble. He's almost always out of the house, so he rarely sees his family, which consist of his highly demanding father and over-achieving twin. But he doesn't need them. He has his job, and he has Career Camp, and that's all that really matters to him.History:
He's also cold, and aloof. If you cross him once, he'll make you suffer for the rest of your life. He loves to torture his prey, the sight of their pathetic excuses like "I'm sorry! Please! Stop!". He revels in the look in their eyes as he pummels them, or when he makes a snappy comeback that leaves their heads reeling. He wants the attention. And he gets it.
Gavin's a player. He easily attracts girls with his bad-boy persona, smoking his cigarettes and whatnot. But he just goes on dates to pass the time. In reality he isn't looking for a relationship, because he's just not attracted to anyone. At all. He happens to be asexual. He's not attracted to anything, or anyone in that way.
But above all, Gavin is tired. He's tired of the way his father treats him. He's annoyed by the fact that his dad loves his sister more than him. He needs his father's attention, craves it even.
And he'll do anything to get it.
Holmes and Vira Doherty were considered to have a perfect marriage. They were doting on each other, knew how each other ticked, quickly forgave each other after arguments, etc.[/blockquote]Codeword: muttations
Vira oftentimes allowed Holmes to have his way. She was a very quiet and meek being, and she did not like to argue much. But her husband made it up to her in many ways. He bought her presents, they ate rich seafood, the works.
So when they were expecting twins, both parents were ecstatic.
But the birth was a long and torturous one for Vira. Gavin was born first, and she couldn't bear to give birth to another. But she had to, her baby needed to be born. So with her husband beside her, Vira promptly gave birth to Nila, and died soon after.
Holmes started to spend all of his time training his children to become Careers. He needed something to take his mind off of his wife. But it turned him into a cruel and unforgiving man.
Gavin on the other hand, always despised his sister. He reasoned that since she was born the last, she was the one who killed his mother. If she hadn't been born, his mother would still have been alive.
And he would be loved.
When the duo were three, their father gave them a test, to see if they were able to pass as Careers. He attacked them with a serrated knife. Nila quickly rolled out of the way. But Gavin blocked it with his arm.
He still has that scar today.
His father began to distance himself from him. He spent more time with Nila, teaching her everything she would need to know to give her family honor. Gavin watched from the sidelines as his twin learned how to become a cold and ruthless killer.
He secretly began to want to become like her. He wanted to be accepted by his father. So he secretly joined a career training center, training when Nila and her father weren't around. He wasn't the best, but he'd fare well in the arena.
But it still wasn't enough. One time, he tried to show his father his skills. But he was pushed aside when his sister walked through the doorway. And Gavin realized that his father had already given up on him.
He began to smoke. He was merely experimenting. A group of guys had offered him some, seeing that he was tall. They thought he was a man. So he took one, and smoked it. He liked it. Gavin began to smoke whenever he was stressed. One cigarette became two. Two became four. Four became a half a pack.
He has an addiction, but he doesn't care. He doesn't care about anything anymore. He's all alone in this unforgiving world.
And only winning the games will change that.
