Age: 17
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 5
Appearance:
Thick, chestnut hair that comes down to the bottom of her shoulder blades, which is always worn in two pigtails, frames her heart-shaped face. Eternity’s hazel-grey eyes often seem inquisitive and wide, barely hidden by short lashes. Although she doesn’t think of herself as a natural version of one of the Captiol’s divine television hosts, with that nose that seems to dominate her reflection’s face, and thin, uneven lips, Eternity thanks her stars for high cheekbones and a clear complexion. It’s true enough, many girls at school narrow their eyes at her on trips between seemingly endless classes, and she stands, what her father says is perfectly, a good two inches higher than he does at 5’11”. Her slight frame and good posture only make this more evident. However, this makes her feel like an alien: younger, more adventurous children that she desires to run around with are afraid of her, and those her own age call her freak or muttation among other, more hurtful names.Personality:
And though Eternity tries not to let this get to her, there are times where she wishes she wasn’t so visible in the crowd, that she didn’t have to look down to address another girl after school. She just wishes she could be a ghost, and so wears lighter, more monochrome colours to reflect this. Eternity feels most comfortable in white, though it washes out her already pale skin, or dark grey, though her father protests it makes her seem sadder, or green, though the mossy colour she dreams of is not nearly as abundant as Eternity would have hoped. One thing that never changes, in anything she wears, is the tiny gold anklet acquired by her mother when she was just a baby, with an hourglass on it. The simple shell hides a complex core, designed so that when the sand is about to reach one side, the hourglass swivels and the sand continues its journey for, as her name, Eternity.
This need for unremarkableness does not mean that Eternity is not driven to be productive. On the contrary, time that is not spent with friends that do not exist means that Eternity can focus her time on things she wants to do. Once she has set a goal, she will strive to reach it, whether it be running for miles, finding safe ways to cook in unsafe conditions or writing infinite stanzas of poetry, ironically the hobby that takes up most of her time, and the only one not useful should her nightmares become reality and she is reaped for the dreaded Games. She is positive, though bitter, and has the strength to endure endless miseries just for the satisfaction of getting a job done.History:
Eternity’s voluntary isolation had led her to trust very few. Her trust extends to her father, her notebook and her rabbit, Rimon, which her father took from a litter in the richer end of the District, where animals are still common, even though breeding is not. Most of the time, Eternity is happy with having no one to talk to; her problems are minimal and trusting no one means she is safe. However, she is a victim of infatuation, and once she has found an object of affection, a boy like her, she would pour out all her darkest secrets just to have him love her back. This fatal flaw has not troubled her yet, though she knows there will come a time where she will not be able to control her emotions – she always hopes that perfect boy will come along.
Eternity’s idea of Justice is strong, and she cannot abide little squabbles that happen around the district regularly. If one is to fight, it must be honourably. If one defends someone in a long-term argument, it would be disgusting for them to turn against them at a later point. Watching the Hunger Games, Eternity has always had great respect for those allies who stand by each other until their death. She knows that she has a hero complex, and would commit suicide before killing an ally in the arena.
Her mother developed lung cancer from the thick smog, as she spent most of her time near the power stations’ waste pits away from the considerably small population of the District, and passed away when Eternity was still a young child. Her brother, a boy of 12, sunk into depression because of this and goes through his life robotically, with no true emotion, speaking to no one. Because she was younger, Eternity was not as affected by her mother’s death as Clement was, but still she remembers her mother’s screaming in the night, the only outwards sign of the unbearable turmoil inside her lungs, and the hugs that were tighter than those of people who expected to live another day. Never has Eternity tried to run away from the District – she knows the Capitol is too powerful for that and the District too vulnerable to take any form of punishment if she did – but she still sees them as the ever near monstrosity that has made the lives of all the citizens of Panem a misery.
Eternity’s father, Natan, handled his wife’s death better than Clement did. He still cares for his family and has always been a source of comfort for Eternity, when there is little in other places.
Eternity started writing poetry as soon as she learnt to hold a pencil, and she loves to spend hours on end scribbling in her notebook about her dreams, her history and other places she can only imagine. Her notebook is, itself, a story of her a past. Eternity’s childhood playmate Bethlehem, a boy with a crippling mental disorder, was taken away a few years ago. No one knows where he went, he just seemed to disappear. Only a few clearly remember Bethlehem, but he is a source of inspiration for Eternity’s writing; a ghost to critique her work. The notebook was given to her by Bethlehem’s mother, who simply told her to remember him. Eternity still thinks of Bethlehem often – she was there for him when no one else was, and now she knows that is the greatest deed she could have done, as she knows what it is like to feel alone.
Comments/Other:This is my first character and I'm pretty new to roleplaying but I love writing stories so I'll see how it goes
(My bio is so colourful because there's a party going on in my brain)
I have tried to reserve a face claim for Shara Worden, I don't know if it's been successful yet but yeah :3
