Personality:
Noreen was small and lithe for district 10, no more than 5 feet tall and maybe 90 pounds, she wasn't one to scare anything. In fact she even had a hard time getting the horses to listen to her. Her aburn hair hung to her shoulders often with flicks of dusty and hay sticking to it. Her features we small and mousey, her mouth often drawn like she was hiding something snarky behind her pink lips. The only big thing you could say she had was eyes, steel blue and looking perpetually annoyed. Her eye brows were dark and shaped in slight arches.
Working on the ranch has left her with an uneven tan and small rough hands. The soaps and lye from grooming the horses wore her nails down and they often had dirt under then. She had a bad habit of trying to remove the sludge with one nail only to get it stuck under the other. Her body was boney and looked as though a strong wind could blow her away. She never starved but always seemed like she could eat one serving more, like there was a hole where her stomach should be.
Noreen is quiet and reserved, hiding her thoughts behind pursed lips and rolled eyes. Her voice is soft and sarcastic when she decides to use it. She loves spending time in the barns, her horses and duties more fun than school. She has a soft spot in her heart for the breeders that come monthly to foal more horses and dreams of joining them some day. Even though she may seem like she is ignoring her surroundings, she is quite aware of what is going on in Panem. She knows how she was raised and how the Hunger Games scare the wits out of her.History:
She has always had to have a tesserae just to help the family get by, and each year she resents it more and a more. The thought of her name piling up in the bowl has made her bitter to the peace keepers and the thought of the Capitol makes her throat tighten with distaste. She dreams of a day when the Hunger Games are something written about in history books, and sketches of far off places she hopes to one day travel.
Noreen is an only child which leads her to feel even more shut off. Her parents said they didn't want to have kids just to see them stolen to be entertainment to the Capitol. They have shown her no love, and have always made her feel like she was a mistake. Their fear of losing her has driven them to keep her at arms length.
Noreen's parents (Austin and Avery) were both in their teens when they got married, it wasn't a marriage of love, but of nessicity to join their farms. Her parents eventually grew to love each other deeply but the stress of an unwanted child wore on them over the years. Her father had lost a brother to the games, and her mother had lived her childhood in fear of going due to having to take multiple tesseraes to feed her family. That fear and loathing had made them always swear off having a child of their own. However, nature had other plans. When they were both 19 they found out Avery was with child. Noreen wasn't exactly hated, or unloved, but she was not wanted. She was an extra burden they didn't choose to bear.Codeword: ODair
Her childhood was a blur of school, horses, and hay. She spent most her time in the stables, grooming horses or cleaning stalls, sometimes just hiding behind the giant bales of hay. Anything to keep her busy. Once a year a few weeks before the reaping her parents would slowly start withdrawing from interaction with her. Once they knew she was safe they would let her back in their lives, just to have it happen over and over again.
Once her teenage years hit she realized that it wasn't her parents fault for the way they acted. Fear makes you do crazy thing. Still she keeps herself shut off from the rest of the world. Hiding away with the horses and her thoughts. It just seemed easier that way. The few people she had to deal with on the ranch were enough to keep her busy. The rest of the world could wait.
Soon after taking a Job on the Anderson's ranch to help break a stallion they were having problems with she met a handsome wrangler named Jack. He swept her off her feet and after a terrible beating from her father he and his family took her in. Now she's in love but without a home or a family. So where does she go from here.
