Personality:
Veronica Lurex was always different from the crowd. The citizens of District 8 held their own standard of appearances, just as any other district in Panem. Veronica, on the other hand, held none of these traits. Born with a vibrant red hair, emerald gaze, and pale skin; Veronica was the polar opposite of everyone else. Her mother, a known resident of District 8, was believed to have an affair with a wanderer beyond the city limits. These rumors have no evidence, nor have they ever been brought to peacekeeper attention. Although, it would explain Veronica's strange traits and apparent lack of father.
There aren't any flaws that are apparent at a quick glance, but anyone who knows her will notice the small scar on her eyebrow, on her bottom lip, and slashed across the lob of her ear. Often attributed to the heavy machinery in textile factories, Veronica doesn't mind them anyways. She has many other scars that can be covered through clothing. Of the scars that people don't see, her largest is the sharp dash that lines her back. Like many other District members, she has made the mistake of getting on the bad side of Peace Keepers. The single dash was caused by a whip when she had been caught after curfew. It was done when she was much younger, and has faded to a soft white rather then the deep red it had once been.
Another noticeable feature is her slim stature. While normally this would be overlooked, on closer inspection it becomes obvious that her lack of weight isn't attributed to a small diet. Many citizens in District 8 have little to no muscle definition due to factory work, but Veronica displays the physic of a marathon runner. Rather then sewing like many other teenager daughters her age, she was stationed in sections with tight machinery that she could quickly climb through or over, which has developed this body structure. Often able to climb up anything, she also excels at acrobatic movements for quick travel through the urban District 8. This is often fuel for her less then pleasant past times. Height wise, she stands at a strong 5'6. Not too tall, nor is she too short. While many think of her as a twig, her physical strength is not to be estimated. She can easily hold her own body weight for hours on end with little to no strain. If a situation ever came to blows, she'd be able to hold her own.
If Veronica was ever unlucky enough to enter into the Hunger Games, something else would stand out. If someone watched her, they would assume she had some sort of training. Her posture is firm, while she seems at constant ease no matter the cost. While at times she does fear death, her actions show otherwise. Surprisingly, Veronica seems skilled at utilizing weapons, although most of them seem ranged. In close combat, it's also apparent that her scuffles in District 8 have given her an edge.
Reckless, Driven, and often considered suicidal, Veronica Lurex isn't the typical tribute. Although, she isn't the typical nutcase either. In fact, the only thing that points out her strange quirks is her complete disregard for her life. To her, it's all one big game. She lives on the edge of death everyday, and that allows her to live life to the fullest. To her, the closer you are to death, the more alive you are in those brief moments. It's stupid, but it's been enough to make her stand out. Maybe it's because of this thought, she can do things others would shy from. To her, those who treasure their lives will be bored, constantly living in security and never experiencing the world. Yet, at the same time, she knows they are terrified of death. With this in mind, Veronica goes as far as to pity those who shy away from the 'excitement' life brings.History:
Besides this quirk, Veronica isn't that bad of a person. While yes, she deals in plenty of bad activities, that doesn't stop her from making friends. She's the playful sort, never minding a quick jab or tease. While sometimes it isn't done out of good humor, that doesn't stop her from getting a chuckle. Around others, she seems at a constant ease, never worried about what the next day may bring. This personality gives her a voice around others, and she often seems like the perfect leader...of a suicide squad. Regardless, Veronica Lurex may not be the best egg, nor is she perfectly shaped, but at least she won't back stab you and dump you in a ditch. That counts for something, doesn't it?
Negatively, Veronica can be often seen as an idiot. After all, what type of person is so willing to die at any moment? She isn't suicidal by any means, in fact she enjoys living quite a bit, it's the thrill of being on the threshold between life and death that holds her in place. Besides that, it's also obviously that she's the bravest person you'll ever meet. It doesn't matter the odds, she'll charge in head first no matter what. Given the fact that her mother won the Hunger Games from so long ago, it's believed that her attitude has rubbed off on her, leaving her a bit paranoid around others. Mind you, this paranoia is very minor, but enough for her to keep a distance from people she doesn't feel right with.
Born into a District that questioned her existence from day one, Veronica Lurex was given one thing that District 8 children lacked. An edge. From an early age, it was apparent that she would be nothing but trouble, a burden on her struggling mother and a ghetto neighborhood. As of such, this young District child grew with a chip on her shoulder, a constant stream of trouble heading her way. Whether it be conflict with other District members, fist fights in hallways, or even the occasional punishment by Peacekeepers; Veronica Lurex never halted her stride. It's often questioned if she's worth more dead then alive, and she has no response to this.Codeword: odair
Her school years were boring, her classes often unattended. She only worked a few hours in the fabric factories, often sneaking off to make a decent living. Depending on theft and gambling as a source of money, Veronica was never cut out to be a good person. In fact, there was a pool to gamble on how long she had till the Peace Keepers dragged her off for execution. So far, it's around enough supplies to feed the winner for a week. Needless to say, she's that one bad egg everyone stays away from. Together with another group of misfits, Veronica has been known to participate in illegal activities. Of course, not even she is immune to the Capitol wrath. She bears the scars to prove it. If she ever ended up in the Hunger Games, she'd probably be one of the most interesting tributes, so long as she doesn't try anything against the Capitol a way through it.
Despite having a single parent, it's obvious that Veronica and her mother are shaky together, at best. Her mother, a victor from the 21th Hunger Games, see's her daughter as a nuisance and tends to scowl in her presence. Veronica, on the other hand, is just as cold cut as her mother. They often clash because of how similarly they act, despite their polar appearances. Many believe that Veronica's mother has given her some training in case she's chosen for the Games, but many also doubt it, simply because of how much they seem to despise each other. There is no semblance of family between these two, veronica only bothers to stay for a night or so to keep the Peacekeepers from thinking she needs a new guardian. Thus far, it's worked.
