“You’ve got a chill in your bones, young lady.” Filly had never understood what her mother meant by this. She was always picking on her. “I don’t need a jacket! Leave me be mama!” She retreated down the stairway in a huff. It was the only escape route, other than crawling out the window. (Not that she’d ever be brave enough to try that) Besides the fact that they lived in the same cramped, two bedroom apartment, there was very little Filly and her mother had in common. Sybil Lovelace hated horses. She thought they were dirty, disgusting, smelly creatures. Filly, on the other hand, loved everything about them. She would have spent every night sleeping in the barn if it wasn’t for the cold that settled downstairs at night. Of course now that it was spring, she planned on doing it more and more often.
“She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.” Filly gently massaged the muzzle of one of her favorite horses, his quiet breathing helping to calm her down. Little by little she began to forget about her problems. “What would I do without you?” The horse nuzzled her hand as if in response, breathing warm air against her skin. Short whiskers tickled her palm as he searched for a treat. “Nope, I got nothing buddy.” She giggled and pushed his nose away. “Stop it! That tickles!”
Time flew far too quickly. One moment, Filly was in the barn petting the horses, the next, she was being dragged to school by her brother. She trudged far behind him the entire time, glancing back to the barn as it disappeared behind them. “It’s almost gone!” Filly jogged for a moment to catch up to her brother, and watched the little red dot that was their house disappear. She was hardly excited to go to school. In fact, the sooner it was over the better. Then she would finally be able go back and be with the horses. This was a typical mindset for the obsessed fifteen year old, whose namesake, a female baby horse, seemed to fit her perfectly. Though, she had plenty of reasons to dread going to school...
((OOC: Yeah, so I just figured they see each other at school or whatever. Feel free to godmod/teleport her there.))
