Juliette is far more petite than either of her older sisters, standing at 5’2 with a small-boned frame to match. Her hands and feet could be considered dainty, bordering on the delicate. The skin that covers her body has a milky sheen to it, sort of like the underside of an empty seashell. Despite her age, she wears far more makeup than Katrina or Irene, wanting peoples attention focused on her, the little princess who is of course far more interesting than any of her siblings. Julie, as she is sometimes called, makes a supreme effort to maintain her figure, keeping herself slender, not wanting to be muscular like Kat or shapeless like Irene. A length of brunette hair frames her face, her chin tapering to a point, not unlike that of others in her family.
It is well worth noting that her hair color changes often to fall in line with whatever seems to be the most popular in the Capitol.
Honey-brown eyes appraise the appearance of others with disdainful mischievousness as her puffy lips curl into an arrogant sneer. Her brows raise condescendingly as her noticeably flat nose wrinkles up in disgust. The craftiest of looks will be shot your way if she thinks she can get one over on you. She is known for over the top flaunting and provocative dress. The shock factor is one that she never ceases to strive towards.
Sibling rivalry affects many people in odd ways, each wanting to out-do or simply not stand in the shadow of a brother or a sister; and Juliette is no exception. While she could be considered pretty, she feels that Irene is more attractive than her and often takes advantage of her shy quiet nature to put her down or otherwise make fun of what she considers to be weird. As well, she is both jealous of Katrina’s self-sufficiency while at the same time disliking it. She feels that she should have whatever she wants, whenever she wants it, and not have to work for it either.
For someone just barely in her teenage years, Julie is a huge gossip, happy to share secrets with whoever has a listening ear, with no regard for whose feelings might be hurt or who might complain, so long as she is the center of attention. She cares too much about how she looks, about how other people look and about what others say and do. When confronted about it she is first snarky and mean, in an attempt to draw their hurt feelings away from her and make them feel bad about bringing it up to her. If that fails, she will usually start crying crocodile tears and bemoan why no one likes her, which often results in a quick resolution as the other person will want to get her theatrics over with as soon as possible.
The relationship she has with her parents is strained as both are career minded, spending much of their time at work; her father captain of a fishing boat, and her mother a teacher; neither are home very often, and when they are, they only appear to have time for each other, never their children. They can be found going out to eat, or otherwise having fun together, leaving their daughters to fend for themselves. Though the only one who would admit it is Irene, Branden was the glue that held the Sykes siblings together, and his demise has left everyone off doing their own thing, searching for an outlet for pent up emotions in lieu of talking to inattentive unfeeling parents. Julie's is a thirst for popularity by any means necessary.
The youngest of the four Sykes teens, Julie has always made it a point to make herself heard. As a child, she threw many tantrums about the most ridiculous things, particularly when she felt that her parents were paying more attention to a sibling. Even as an infant she was loud, keeping everyone awake with her yowls and screeches. As she grew older that natural flair refined itself into a sharp tongue and sharper attitude. When tragedy struck and her older brother was lost at sea, all of the remaining siblings changed somewhat in their demeanor; attributes becoming amplified in their distress, Irene becoming more closed off, Katrina becoming more solitary, and Julie seeking the adoration of what she views as her public.
When it comes to the annual games, she could care less; in fact she always wants it over with as soon as possible, for when they are in progress, no one cares about the dirt she has to dish, preoccupied with whether or not the district is going to have a victor. She does not share her sisters fear of the games, knowing that if she were to be reaped, one of them would certainly volunteer in her place, sparing her that fate and martyring themselves to a cause laid down by Branden. A chivalrous oath to defend ones siblings in the face of death, no matter what may come.
Something her superficial tendencies finds boring and outdated. Julie is more promiscuous than her sisters, a tad boy-crazy and forever chasing after handsome faces, something of which Katrina disapproves. But unbeknownst to her protective older sister, she has carried on relationships from the time she was twelve, and has broken more hearts then anyone would think possible in that time span. True, Katrina gets wind of one every now and then, but Julie is far more active in that realm than anyone in her family would ever guess.
