Sweet Little Foundlings [District 9]

SWEET LITTLE FOUNDLINGS

It happened one late night, when a child was born. The baby didn't know it, but soon enough she would be alone. Her pparents dropped her off in the square, where she would stay until morning. Fleeing the district forever, Timothy and Una Lime left their only child alone, not wanting to take her with them. By morning a man found her, cold and wet with morning dew, and took her to his home. That is where she stayed. She was not the only one. Slowly, as the weeks went by, every time the man went to the square another child was there, abandoned. Not all having been born a few hours before. Some where up to already three years old. Nonetheless, it seemed very quickly the man's house was filled with a mighty number of eleven children, naming them in the order they were found alphabeticaly.. What would he do? His wife was furious every time he brought home another child, but his kindness wouldn't allow her to put them in the community home. It was her idea to put them to work as soon as they could. While the man, Mr. Levvy, treats them like children, the woman, Mrs. Levvy, treats them like deadly bugs that need to be squished quickly.

Emmie [Open] - Emmie was the fifth child found, a girl at age nine, she was found when she was two years old. She only remembers her parent's faces and freezing through the night, nothing else. She just sat where her parents told her to. Emmie is pretty bubbly, and likes to make friends and talk untill people threaten her. She talks a bit too much, and is exactly what it takes to creep Franklyn and Ana out. She can be very likable, and is definently uncaring about her real parents. She figures if they didn't love her enough to keep her, why love them? Her best friend is the lady who owns the floral shop, and she sometimes gets flowers from her and gives them to Mr. Levvy and the other girls.

Kelly [Open] - Kelly was the eleventh and last child found, she is seven, and was ten months old when Mr. Levvy found her. Mrs. Levvy actually has a liking for Kelly. Kelly thinks she is better than her peers, and often kisses up to Mrs. Levvy, earning her favor. She still knows who she is and where she is, but actually has a liking for capitol life. She can get ahead of herself sometimes, and has actually annoyed poeple more than Emmie a few times. Kelly loves hanging out with Cloey.

George [Open] - Goerge was the seventh child found by Mr. Levvy, and was found at age three. He remembers plain and clear his parents, what they said to him, and thinking they'd be right back. He is now 10. He's shy and quiet, and doesn't do too well in school, but he does try hard. He's a sweet kid, really, and he is very calm. He doesn't like Mrs. Levvy, of course, but the glares he gives her make her wack him right on the head sometimes. It just makes him smile when Mr. Levvy comes to his rescue.

Franklyn [Open] - Franklyn was the sixth child to be found, and he was two months old when Mr. Levvy picked him up. He doesn't remember a thing, but holds a hatred for his abandoning parents deep inside his heart. He's rebbellious, rude to some, and stubborn. He's a wild little boy, at 7 years old, and not one person can calm him when he launches into a fit. His best friend is Jeremy.

Jeremy [Open] - Jeremy was the tenth one found, when he was a year and a half old. He's now 8, and is a tranquil as a sleeping kitten. He is very sweet, even managing to somehow befriend Franklyn. He is extremely intelligent, and very sly. He can figure out most problems, and is very helpful. His life is an open book, and it seems as though everyone knows everything about him, like he has no secrets. He can't keep a single secret to himself before someone figures it out.

Bernard [Open] - Bernard was the second child found, and was one week old. Just a little older than Ana, and now 7, he is very interested in finding out about her. He's often following her, asking questions. He is shy like Jeremy, but is more active with other people. He has a few good friends outside home, and has a natural likability that sometimes causes him to stutter, and blush in akward moments.

Diana [Open] - Diana was the fourth child found, and was a year old. Now she is 8, and is a major kleptomaniac. She is always taking things just because, then later being pushed by everyone to return it if they find out. She wants to return it, but is ashamed, and has trouble. Mrs. Levvy sees her as a disgrace, but Diana is the kind of child who can hold her head high and ignore people. She can be pretty stubborn, but when it all comes down to it she's just a little girl upset with her long-gone parents.

Ian [Open] - Ian was the ninth child Mr. Levvy discovered, and was two years old when left. He was actually asleep when it all happened, and woke up in Mr. Levvy's house, not having any idea his parents were gone. He sleeps a lot, and doesn't like to run around. He's lazy, but a nice friend to have. He likes talking with the other boys, and occasionally goes for a conversation with the girls.

Cloey [Open] - Cloey was the third child Mr. Levvy found in the square, and was three at the time. Cloey's parent's seemed to have had the same idea as Ian's, and she merely woke up in Mr. Levvy's house. She likes to play, and is delighted with hanging out near Kelly. Cloey is a bit of a crybaby when thinking about her parents, and also easily breaks down when someone is mean. Cloey is now 10.

Hellen [Open] - Hellen was the eighth child found by Mr. Levvy, when she was one year old and three months. She is now 8, and a bit of a Negative Nellie. She is very sensitive, and finds it hard to cope with problems. She is shy and quiet, and hardly ever talks to anyone. She is a lot like Ana, but not quite. She has many secrets she keeps to herself, and is extremely mysterious.

Ana [Sarella] - Ana, the first child Mr. Levvy found, and the strangest. She was only a few hours old when found. Now she is 7, and the youngest of them all. She has episodes of schizophrenia, and truly believs her parents hated her and are stalking her. Everyone sees her as nuts, even people who like her. The only friend she has AND trusts is Mr. Levvy. She is a bit of a light-like person when out of schisophrenic times, and will just walk around swiftly with her head at the sky. Just thinking. She thinks Bernard is some kind of spy, and is always trying to avoid him and get rid of him. Sometimes in an extremely dilusional state, she'll attack him and Mr. Levvy has to lock her in a closet. She's like a human vegetable, but knowing only pain, fear, and sadness.


After years of caring for the poor children, the small house has become cramped and dirty. The children are filthy most of the time, with few good clothes. The girls share one room and the boys another, sleeping squished together on the floor. It truly is the image of a poor house, but is it really a family? Well, I guess we'll just have to see how close the children actually feel.
