But you didn't have to cut me off
Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing
I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger
And it feels so rough

Celia told me that Reaping was coming up in a few days, and I needed to be prepared. All kids in the Community Home were forced to take tessera so we had a lot of recourses for the coming years. It saved on a lot of money, considering there were about fifteen kids there, and at least one new kid came each week. Celia made sure to add that I had a high chance of getting reaped - my name being in there 11 times this year. I just prayed nobody close to me got reaped, I didn’t care if I got reaped. I really have nothing to live for, anyways. And if I come home and win, I’ll be treated like a super star. I’ve been stressed all week. I have been told by my teachers that I am failing in school, so a tutor had to come over and teach me the basics of what we were learning. Of course, the tutor was way to advanced, because I had no idea what he was even talking about. It was extremely disastrous. Especially with the disturbance of every other annoying, bratty little kid there.
Due to my stress over the past week, I’ve been lashing out on the community home kids and assistants lately. And of course, I got punished for it. 6 slaps across the face, although they were from old ladies so they didn’t really hurt as much as a grown man’s slap would, and 4 extra chores. One of them included chopping the wood. And, that was what I was doing right now. The axe wasn’t really difficult to pull up, but considering I was pretty strong, most of the District probably couldn’t even lift it up a centimeter. That’s why I’m always assigned to chop the lumber. My muscled tensed as I raised the axe, and split the wood right in half. I wiped the sweat dripping off of my forehead, considering all we’ve got was rainy weather for the past few weeks, the sun was shining out right onto my body. Today would be the perfect time to swim. But, of course, I’m stuck here chopping some lumber while sweating out of my own skin.
I stare over at the pile of chopped lumber. I had split enough today. I would probably had to do more if Celia didn’t call me for lunch. I can’t wait until I’m out of this place. I get to be a free man, and live on my own. But, the only thing I’m worried about is money. I’m not going to have a job as soon as possible. I’m going to probably starve to death in the streets, like a lot of District 8. Worries aside, I decide to join the community home in at lunch. I usually don’t, just grabbing my plate and heading outside to the picnic table. It was a calm environment. One of the old ladies slabbed a piece of almost moldy bread on my plate and a vegetable that I won’t even bother to eat. I sat down on an oaken table, and took a large bite of the almost moldy bread, and cringed. It wasn’t almost moldy. It was moldy. I examined the bread, and saw a large blue and green spot right on the back of it. I almost puke. I look over to the old lady serving the bread, and one kid refusing to eat it. “I already ate some worms today!”
I ran to my secret hideout. Only I know of it, as of now. Some one else could know of it, that I don’t know, but let me stop confusing you. The secret hide out, is also known as my swimming pool. My pond. Not mine, it’s not on my property, but it used to be. But I consider it mine. I hit the location, and pull off my shirt. I would usually slip off my pants, but due to a recent incident, I’m not going to do that. I hear splashing. Coming from the pond. Someone was in MY pond! I look closely. I could only see hands splashing, and that person would have come up by now. Someone was drowning in my pond! I dive straight into the water, the cool feeling touching my face, making me almost sigh in relief under water. I see the body, and it was definitely drowning. I over stroke over to the body, and use my shoulder to pick up the wet body, and carry it to shore. The body was heavy, considering it was fully clothed and dripping wet. I could tell it was a female, because she had long hair down to her chest. But I couldn’t see who it was, because she was gasping like a fish. I press down on her stomach 5 times. I’d seen this type of CPR on The Hunger Games, and it worked to save the person’s life. Then I press my lips to hers, not to kiss her, but to breathe some of my oxygen into her system. I then leave the system to it’s course, praying she’d be alright.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
