SWIMMING: 800 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY

Welcome to the 800IM tournament of the very first Panem Olympic Games! The swimming pool is located within the aquatics center, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the pool for your race, and remember, make your district proud!

The execution of this event is simple. Feel free to roleplay your character getting ready to begin the race, and then paste the code [*dice=12000+52500] without the asterisks into your post and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This will result in a five-digit number that will correspond to a time, which is read with a decimal point separating the first three and the last two digits (e.g. 52500 is read as 525.00 seconds) I will then convert this to minutes and record it here.

The competitor with the lowest time wins this event. Times for this event will be continually updated on this thread.

After everyone has rolled, feel free to edit your post with your character's reaction if you so desire, but please keep it to one post rather than multiple.

There is NO POSTING ORDER; you may post your shots whenever you please. Keep in mind, though, that this is meant to move pretty fast, so we're not looking for exceedingly long posts.

Apex was a decent swimmer, one of the best in his district, but if he would be kidding himself if he honestly thought he had a chance at beating any of these kids from district four. Apex was no slouch, he was lean, he was fit…but despite the vast amount of time he spend in the pool for cardio, it was nothing to these kids who pretty much did it for a living. Apex looked to his sides, everyone focused and prepared. He dreaded a day where he would be reaped, and the arena chosen would be some area full of lakes or beaches.

This was just another training exercise to him. A chance to measure himself to the other swimmers, against the best in all of Panem. He wasn’t sure he was going to lose, but he knew he wasn’t going to place first, especially with the exhaustion he received in some of the other events he participated in. Though being a part of nearly every event stabbed at his stamina, he regretted nothing.

As the race started, he dove into the pool; swimming like he had never swam before, even though he knew it wouldn’t be enough.[/size]

With her dad and her mom on her mind, it was hard to concentrate. Both of them drilling in how important it was to win and to get glory for the Lund family. So the whole district could see the careers they were. It made Serena's toe curl on the diving board, gazing down at the water as in the back of her mind she kept hearing her dad talking to others. "You know, thats my daughter Serena. Serena Lund, thats my girl and thats my last name." And with a smack to the others man shoulder and let out a deep laugh, that is how is would go. Even all the glory that he made her up to be, she knew if she failed. And she would probably would, the sounds of her father's laugh would be withered into a quite echo. And then the next three events her dad signed her up for would be the same. All the same.

It was not like Serena did not think she was a good swimmer, not at all. The countless hours she had spent in the oceans reflected on her sea built body and deep tan. But would that be enough? She wanted to impress her dad. Like her little brother who would always impress him. With his tall height and a trident using beast, it was not wonder that her dad seemed to be pleased and look at him when they both stepped through the doors. But this was not the time to think of that, now was the time for Serena to look upon the pool water. Let her eyes thread the surface and wait for the bell that would signal her time to dive off. Ready, steady, go! The loud bell rang through her ears and basically threw her off the board in surprise. But she knew what to do, she was calm and dove off. A few seconds behind the others, but with the strength she brought from her inner body. Serena sped up as every muscle was being used to her limit, maybe now he will look at me with a smile. Those thoughts she urned for rushed into her mind like the water that swept her hair back. They carried her on as she could feel her going faster then some others. Now it was just time to keep it up

NYKLUS MOALKIS, DISTRICT TWO

It's awkward being next to guys with their crotches being hugged by a tight fabric, but I have to concentrate. I stretch by the block. Then, a robotic voice starts instructing us. Swimmers step up. I walk up on the block and push my goggles into my face. Take your mark. Four laps of each stroke - butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyles - stand in my way, and so do seven other competeors, but I can do this. Beep.

After embarrassingly finishing last in the 100 free, Villain was eager to race in the 800 individual medley event, just to prove himself not to be a disgrace to his district entirely. Swimming was all that he had going for him, and he wasn't about to get beat by some District 1 again. The boy who'd won the 100 free wasn't competing in this event, which gave Villain a bit of hope, as the Baitwell boy had bested practically everyone else by several seconds. He did recognize the same two guys from other districts, and couldn't help wondering if there was some sort of aquatics center in One and Two for those careers to gain some ground on Four in the realm of swimming, in light of the recent Games containing a large amount of water.

This time, as he crouched on his starting block, Villain felt a twinge of anxiety. He didn't want to be that guy, the one that came in last in all of his events, the one that let his district down time and time again. He was already some pathetic excuse for a Career; of his peers, which actually were afraid of blood? None, just him, and even if nobody knew about it, it was still Villain's secret shame. He pushed the thoughts out of his head; they weren't conducive to good performance, which is what he really needed right now. He needed to be redeemed.
