Four events, that was everything that she had to do. Diving, 800m, 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle. Each event that District 4 was presumed to do best, Serena helped in the 800m winning it by a mile while the others swum behind. Everything was doing fine, the roars of the crowd the smiles of her dad. The cheering from her brother and the shouts from her mom. It was everything she wanted and it all came in a mere 20 seconds. Maybe her brain shut off after what she had came for and the others events failed. No more roaring of the crowds as she finished around the last place every event. But did Serena care? Of course not but at the same time avoided the disappointed eye from her father. At least I can walk home with a gold medal strapped around my neck.
With disappointment comes a frown and with a frown comes quiet time. Right after her last event Serena left with just a mere towel wrapped around her thin body. Letting the breeze do its job by blowing through her tangled hair and Serena did the rest. Her first thought as she stepped out into the scenery was to go home and wait their for her medal their. Where she could eat and maybe have a quick deep in the ocean, considered real water unlike the pool water. Chlorine was still stinking off her body, the only reason she hated the pools. The chlorine that seemed to stick to your body and your taste buds But as she looked around and noticed all the buildings, booths and shops placed up on every sandy road. Her mind changed in a flash and moved her forward, Avoiding the road home and heading straight to a booth where she knew she could find food, at least hopefully some fresh food then greasy food they serve at events.
Halfway to towards the booth Serena had already taken off her ruggy shoes and packed them in her bag. Letting the grass tickle her toes as she walked straight to the booth. Dodging others that scrambled around with tickets in their hand for each event. Flapping around let wild men that gave Serena the entrainment she needed to go to the booth with drifting into thoughts of her own. Unless I need to decide between an apple or orange, she thought as she came to the booth and read over the sign. Written on it was every fruit she could think of it and the fresh fruit smell coursing through the gruff man standing behind the table. Blocking the exit to where they made kept the fruit. “I will take an apple please.”
“Sure thing sweetie,” The man gave her a yellow grin and passed her an apple at the same time Serena put down the coins that were packed in her over the shoulder stitched bag. Gingerly she took it and spun around, right away her eye spied another human. Companies good. It was decided right then in a two words that she would sit next to them and talk to them about their day. ” Having a good day? I’m Serena Lund before you ask.” She gave a quaint smile and started the conversation just as she sat down, eager to get her losing three events off her mind.
