The Vampirial Order

PROLOUGE: The Trial
A soft rumble of voices filled the huge courtroom; nearly five hundred citizens of the Vampirial community had come to see what they called the Traitor’s Trial. It had been discovered many months ago an organization of thirteen Vampires most of which were no older than nineteen had been plotting to over throw the Supreme Vampirial Order and it’s leader of three hundred years, Lord Nicholi Romanoff. The Supreme Vampirial Order is the governing body of the Vampire race and all things supernatural. It was founded over five hundred years ago by Count Dracula, many years after it’s creation members of the Order were not pleased with Dracula’s actions toward the human race and so waged war on him and his supporters, he was over thrown at the battle of the Carpathian Mountains by a very young Nicholi Romanoff. Romanoff was the leader of those gallant rebels and so was ushered in as the Supreme Commander of the Vampirial Order. His mind over the course of three hundred years began to warp because of the amount of power that had been bestowed upon him; he began to despise the human race that he fought to protect from the atrocities of Dracula and his army. He began ruling those of his own race and others of the supernatural community with an iron fist, there was little freedom or liberty, so to trifle with the Vampirial Order in any form is highly dangerous. By the year two thousand and thirteen, Vampires and other members of the supernatural community were tiring of Romanoff’s Iron fist tactics, many began forming secret organizations, such as The Thirteen, one of the most prominent of these revolutionary organizations, one that many vampirial citizens were following closely.
After receiving information of The 13 from his elite trackers, Romanoff sent them to hunt down and arrest all thirteen of the conspirators. Romanoff’s Trackers was a group of seven vampires whom fought along side him at the battle of the Carpathian Mountains, these vampires had abilities that no other vampire possessed, abilities that made them excellent at hunting and tracking whatever or whomever their President told them to track. After several long months, their search turned up only three of the thirteen members; they were found hiding in the abandoned tunnel systems under the city of New York. They were brought to the dungeons of the Vampirial Capitol in Paris where they were brutally interrogated, to no avail however the three boys would not speak one word of what their organization was up to, nor would they tell the Vampirial officials the whereabouts of their fellow members. Their since of honor was strong and would not be broken. The Vampirial High court, the chief justice being Romanoff, would try the three boys at once since no information was acquired from them, perhaps the fear of the court and the threat of execution would get them the information they required.
A tall thin man wearing a black coat and tri-cornered hat made his way to the center of the courtroom with his walking stick he tapped it on the marble floor three times. “The Court will now come to order…” He said loudly, the room quieted off quickly. “All stand for the noble judges of the Vampirial High Court and the President, Lord Nicholi Romanoff.” All at once the everyone in the room stood to their feet, possibly in fear, should they not stand to honor their leader they would more than likely be arrested and then there is no telling what he might have done because of disrespect. Twelve judges including Lord Romanoff entered the courtroom clad in scarlet red robes; they took their places in the high seats behind the president’s large podium which bore the Vampirial order’s emblem two swords crossed over a shield which was wreathed in a thorny rose vine. The great audience took their seats after the Judges took their seats. There was a long moment of silence before finally Lord Romanoff broke it. “Bring forth the prisoners.” His deep powerful voice resonated off the walls seeming to shake the very floor. Two Large double oak doors swung open and immediately the audience began to murmur. “Silence!” Romanoff hissed at the Audience and they went quiet again. Six guards escorted three seemingly teenage boys into the courtroom, ten armed soldiers, dressed in navy blue coats and tri-cornered hats, followed them, swords were strapped to each of their sides. The guards lead the three boys to the center of the courtroom and chained their ankles to the floor then made them hold their arms out to their sides, chains were attached to their wrists and then attached to the floor. All three of the boys had been obviously beaten their bodies bruised and cut. Romanoff stared at the three who had hoped to either kill him or imprison him, his lavender eyes flashed with anger but he kept his anger to himself and did not dare let it show. “We have assembled this seventh day of November in the year of two thousand and thirteen to hear the cases of Benjamin Lafayette, Thomas Leonard, and Terrance Lordsdale. All three of which are charged with the following crimes…” He paused and looked at the three boys who were now staring directly at him with what seemed like smirks on their bruised faces. Romanoff continued, “repeated theft of official Vampirial documents, spying on and invading the homes of Vampirial officials, conspiring to over throw the Vampirial Order and it’s leader, and ultimately high treason.” The boys were now smiling at the President; Romanoff gripped the sides of the podium so hard that the whites of his knuckles began to show. “Do you deny the charges against you?” He asked, a hint of a soft growl in his voice.
The three boys were quiet for a moment before Terrance Lordsdale finally decided to speak for the three. Terrance like all vampires was beautiful by nature short silvery blonde hair, bright blue eyes and before the interrogation a flawless face. He was an arrogant boy with a very smart mouth, which got him in trouble often; he smiled arrogantly as he began to speak. “No you’re most gracious, noble, affectionate honor.” He spoke sarcastically giving a playful bow. “We admit to the charges, seeing as you caught us with evidence in hand there is no point at all in trying to deceive you and the judges of the High Court, all though I am sure it wouldn’t take much to deceive any of you, your all ancient after all.” All at once, the audience burst into loud laughter, the two other boys beside Terrance laughed as well while Terrance stared directly into the eyes of the president, showing no fear. “Order!!! I will have Order immediately!!!” Romanoff yelled, no longer hiding the anger in his powerful voice, a voice that was not rattling the floor. The audience went quiet, as did the boys. “You will do well to remember where you are boy, and you would do even better to mind how you address me.” He hissed coldly. Terrance smirked and gave a slight bow. “The crimes that the three of you have committed is of the most deplorable nature with that being said your punishment must equal the weight of the crimes committed.” Romanoff smiled cruelly. “As you know treason is automatically punishable by death…”Romanoff sat back in his chair and cocked his head to the side as if in thought. “However if you were to tell us where the other ten may be found and tell us of any other rebels besides the ones in your organization, we may consider allowing you to live.” He looked to his side the other judges were looking back at him, a surprised expression on their pale faces.
Thomas Leonard, a quiet seventeen year old with messy black hair and gray eyes glared at the President, normally he would say nothing but when he was made angry or felt a situation needed his opinion he would give it. “Sir, how dare you presume that we would simply give such information to you? We are not like the rest of the rats in this courtroom, we have great hope that with our fellow members still being at large that they will usher in a revolution that will ruin you and all who support you.” Thomas’s voice grew louder as Romanoff called for order. “You have done great harm to a once great government. You have become as bloody as Count Dracula, and given our kind a bad name sir. Because of you, humans and even other races of the supernatural have come to fear us. In fact most of our race fears you, this courtroom is rank with fear, they might not show it on their faces but they feel it.” Thomas pulled the chains that bound him to the floor. “These chains that bind us to your corrupt and evil government will shatter and you will suffer as we have.” He hissed.
Romanoff smiled as the boy spoke, a cold twisted smile. “Since you and your two fools feel that way Mr. Leonard you will die for your crimes.” Romanoff stood to his feet.
Benjamin Lafayette an eighteen-year-old boy with piercing black eyes and dark brown hair sneered at the President. “ Liberty and freedom will come to our kind before the end, you will suffer because in fact you have committed the most deplorable form of treason, and you have taken all of our rights, freedoms, and liberties and so must be punished. I am perfectly proud that I stood in opposition and I will die knowing I did the right thing.” Benjamin stepped forward as much as his chains would allow. “God save the free Vampirial Republic!!!” He shouted at the top of his voice.
The ten soldiers who had followed them in to the courtroom marched in and formed a line side by side. Their officer a tall man with a stern and authoritive face stepped to the side of his men and withdrew his sword. “Perhaps your god will save your souls for committing treason.” Romanoff hissed, “I declare immediate execution of all three prisoners…” He looked at the officer “General do your duty.” Romanoff and the other judges exited the courtroom. Everyone in the courtroom began chanting something that the three boys could not quite catch. The general raised his sword “Present arms!” The line of soldiers brought their muskets to their front. “Make ready!” They held their muskets up their fingers on the triggers. “Take aim!” the soldiers did as ordered taking aim at the three boys. The general dropped his arm. “FIRE!!!” He yelled, the high clatter of musket fire fill the courtroom, each musket ball found their mark and the three boys fell to the floor. The general’s lip quivered slightly. He knew what the boys had said was true, he regained his composure and the stern expression returned to his face. “Recover arms!” he said. The chanting of the crowd grew louder and the general caught what they were saying. Freedom… “Freedom.” The general whispered softly to himself and shook his head.
Romanoff left the group of judges who were talking in a circle in the hall way and made his way down the long corridor to a large set of double doors, he walked into his office, an enormous circular room a fireplace on either side of the office and a large black desk in the center, the floor was of black marble, Large black tapestries hung over the windows which overlooked the huge lobby of the Vampirial Capitol. Romanoff closed the doors and both fireplaces automatically lit, as did the lamps. which were mounted to the walls. He sat down in the high backed chair at his desk and sighed softly. He knew eventually this day would come, he had lead the first revolution to relinquish the power of Dracula and now a new revolution was brewing to have him over thrown, he could not allow the people to rise against the only government of the supernatural world… a revolution would halt his plans of moving to conquer the human race. Romanoff believed Vampires to be the master race, beautiful and unchanging and extremely powerful, he felt that the Vampire race should be the ruling race not the humans.
A soft knock came from the oak doors, Romanoff looked up, “Yes, come in.” He said softly. General Oliver Lale stepped through the doors and closed them behind him, he turned on his heel brought his feet together, tucked his hat under his arm, and saluted Romanoff. “My Lord, I feel sir that we must discuss about the current situation.” The General spoke with a slight hint of worry in his authoritive voice. “General, have a seat please.” Romanoff said motioning toward the chair in front of his desk. The general gave a slight bow and walked toward the chair, he sat down, keeping his back straight and his head forward. “General Lale, I believe that revolution is on the rise as those three imbeciles stated earlier. I do not believe it will be successful, our armies from all four regions is to powerful and the supernatural world to weak…” He paused and stood to his feet, he walked over to one of the large windows and stared out into the lobby of the Capitol. “However I do believe measures should be taken in each region in order to counter any uprisings, word of what happened here today will spread across the world quickly.” General Lale stood and walked to Romanoff’s side and looked at his leader, “My Lord, I am ready to my duty, what are your orders?” Romanoff turned and looked at him. “Every soldier in our armies must be deployed into every major city where there are large populations of our kind or other races of the supernatural world. The Trackers new orders will to be hunt down any one of influence that is speaking in opposition of the Order. In addition, I will be writing several proclamations banning any writings against the government; any found writing in opposition of this Order will be placed under arrest. Our security must be tightened.” Romanoff turned back to the window. “ I have worked to hard to establish the government I have always wanted, It will not be stolen from me by a group of fools, the remaining ten of that organization must be found and forced to call off the revolution that they started brewing.” The General looked out the window, hundreds of Vampirial officials wandered here and there. “I will contact the four armies immediately sir, and deploy the soldiers as soon as possible, I will also contact the Trackers and give them their new orders, I will advise the army to keep their eyes open for the remaining ten members of the conspiring organization.” Romanoff turned and faced the general completely and nodded. “Update me regularly sir.” Romanoff saluted the General. Lale returned the salute, turned, and made his out of the office. “What has he gotten us into?” He wondered to himself then a more unnerving thought came to his mind “Am I doing what’s right?”
