Do what you love,
[glow=red,2,300]-Hellewise-[/glow]
It was night again, and it was peaceful. Hellewise liked it that way, because she was free, free from prying eyes, free from the ever constant fear that one day she would slip up under the watchful eye of a Peacekeeper and be punished. But was anyone truly free? Because no matter what status you gained in this society, this district, you could never be free. Because you'd constantly have to watch your back, because you never know who might betray you, out of envy, or the fact that the Capitol could always punish you for a made up offense and always get away with it. The only way out was change, change for the better, and that someone would find the strength to rise up against this pre-set hierarchy, that someone would muster the courage to fight for their lives and the districts.
You're all talk, she thought to herself bitterly, because no matter what you say, you never find the strength to follow up on your words with actions. Talking wouldn't get you far in this world, unless you knew how to manipulate people, twist their way of thinking with words and words alone, then it would get you very far. But Hellewise wasn't manipulative, she couldn't trick a young child even if she tried.
Turning her face upwards, Hellewise gave a small sigh of content as she felt the gentle wind caress her face, playing with her locks of hair before setting them down and dancing on, without a care in the world. The silver rays from the moon bathed her small silhouette in it's softly shining rays, outlining the young girl's frame. The world was silent around her, and she could pretend she was in her own little bubble of peacefulness, where the Capitol didn't exist, where the Peacekeepers were all gone, and the Hunger Games never once happened. Her feet slowly leads her towards the district boundary, where the electrical fence hummed vibrantly, separating her from the forest. She had heard stories, of how some people crossed the fence daily, and she herself had crossed it before, but never alone like she was now. Taking a deep breath, she makes her way to the nearest tree, placing a hand on the lowest branch to hoist herself up.
The climb was tiring and excruciating, and she was covered in shallow scratches and her palms were red and sore. From here, she was high enough to merely walk across the fence on one of the branches, before dropping to the ground. But the drop was a long one, and her small stature didn't help one bit. Holding her breath, she lets go of the branch and all sense of security fled her. Do it now, before you change your mind. A voice whispered in her head. Complying, Hellewise slowly sits down on the branch, trying to to crack it, and grasps the rough branch firmly with both hands. Slowly, she inches her bottom off the branch, and her breath is stolen when her body drops steeply, and all her weight is on her hands and shoulders. Gritting her teeth, the girl let go and felt herself plummet, before hitting the ground, the momentum sending her rolling twice across the floor. She gingerly stood up and winced when she realized her right ankle was sprained slightly, but just a bit. She would survive.
A smile graced her lips as she looked around. She had done it, she had managed to enter the forest on her own. It wasn't a big achievement for some, but it was for her. Now, to get away from the fence before she was spotted. Following the winding imaginary path, the forest close in around her, enveloping her in their silent stillness- And her spirits lifted.
