I had a way then losing it all on my own
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me
Let’s wander to the edge of the cliff and hop over. Let’s color the depths of the ocean a sparkling blue and drown beneath them. Let’s go chasing the stars, fly so high that we lose the air we breath and suffocate in the stars. Let’s fall asleep, side by side, and dream of sweet honey and glorious sunsets, and never again open our eyes. Wait, where are you going? No, you can’t leave without me … There shall be no jumping alone. No drowning unless you are holding my hand. No suffocating without me. No dreaming unless I am by your side. It's my demand and you must obey. I am your queen and you are but a mere fool at my feet. But still you don't listen. Still you leave me behind. Still you die without me. Grasp my hand and pull me under - I need to go with you to that dream. To the bottom of that cliff. To the bottom of that ocean. To the edge of the stars.
Please Theseus, reach down from heaven and take me home with you.
It's unnatural the way the stars shine. They don't look real anymore. The absence of falling stars is what gives away the fact that the sky is probably a fake. Because if this were a real sky, I would've noticed three falling stars by now. The air is not cold but still I am frozen. I have taken off my shoes because they were cutting into my skin so deep. They made them to small for me. My feet are blistered and torn away - almost scraped straight down to the bone. But I'm not even sure it was my shoes. I'm pretty sure my body has begun to eat itself. My skin is a crawling monster that is hungry for the taste of nothing but flesh and blood and bone. And maybe my chilling soul. Of course the queen would enjoy a chilled heart with a side of aching soul for dinner. I stare blankly up into the sky, my hands digging deep into the mud I have created beneath me. Oh how I wish the earth would just swallow me whole and take me away to death.
I watch colors shoot across the sky that only help prove to myself that the sky is completely man made. Music rings in my ears so loud that I have to cover them. Stop, stop, stop. I shut my eyes tight, pretending I can't see the faces that flash in the sky. Pretending that I don't know what faces are flashing there. I can't peek because I know they are there, looking down at me. Mud seeps into my ears as my hands press harder against the side of my skull. Quiet, quiet, quiet. But still the music plays and still the lights flicker through my eyelids. Shush, girl!! You listen to your daddy now and quit your crying!! I feel the palm of a hand slap against my skull. I feel hot tears running down my cheeks. I purse my lips as tightly as I can so no noise can escape. He doesn't want mommy to hear. I don't want mommy to hear. I can feel to touch of a hand; gliding up my leg, stroking my face, holding me down. No, no, no. "Stop, daddy, please stop."
A hand presses hard over my lips. Quiet little girl. The music cuts out, the lights stop flashing, but the voice still rings in my ears. The hands keep touching me. I open my eyes, I jump to my feet.
That never happened, that never happened, that never happened. I love my daddy. I force it all away. Keep quiet girl or I will never let you see the light of day again. My heart beats hard against my rib cage. My breathes come rapidly. "It's okay Navy - th-that isn't ... That never happened." But still the rough palms press against my legs. I swat at my thighs, beating away the feeling. I look around me, trying to find my kings by the light of the moon. I can hear them calling to me. "What is wrong dear Navy? Let me hold you in my arms. Come here, it's okay. I am here now." I find them inside their laurels. I pick each of them up, hold them to my cheek. whispering back to them. "Thanks guys. I don't know what would happen if you weren't here with me." I set them back down, letting them sleep inside their glowing crowns. I kiss each one goodnight, feeling their cool cheeks beneath my lips, tasting clay when I pull away. I never knew dirt could taste so sweet. So beautiful. I lay back down, staring up at the fake stars again, not waking until rain has completely soaked through my thick hair.۵ ۵ ۵ ۵ ۵
I'm not even sure how I was able to sleep. I wake up in a muddy puddle, my mouth filled with a mixture out clay, and plant roots, and dirt, and water. Rain continues to beat against the ground, making little, spurting fountains all around me. Like a millions of tiny little springs of hope - none touching me, but so close I can taste them.
I look around, colorful flowers all around me. Lotus flowers. The ground is squelching beneath my feet, causing me to glide to the small ponds where the lotus flowers grow from beneath the murky depths and on top the top of the pond, floating on the top, taking in the sun. But there is no sun today. They only collect droplets of rain upon their soft petals. And although I don't want to destroy their beauty, I know they are edible. I pull their roots from beneath the waters surface, pop their seeds into my mouth and begin to feast on the greens.
I walk out of the water, carrying a bundle of the roots and colorful flowers. They could be like roses - maybe they can take me home.
But my dreams of home are a distraction and suddenly I find myself staring at a creature that has no eyes, but can see me. I drop my flowers, my only hope of going home, and grasp my weapon in my hands. Forget that this is a living thing. Forget that it breathes and feels just like you.
And as I swing down at the ground, aiming for the tiny thing at my feet, just as another comes to join it in attacking me.

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine It when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone
