The sun was burning the back of a small and skinny girl, who looked like she was lucky there was no wind: she would have been blown away. Nobody knew that that was exactly the thing the girl wanted to: being blown away, flying, going along with the wind, no stopping untill she met the end of the world. But Chaya better not dreamed about these things. Dreams hurted. Dreams creeped into you, crashed you, cracked you. There was no place for dreaming in the Capitol, not if the only thing you had was hunger and work. Not if your general goal was to try and stay positive at all times.
Chaya swirled her axe back and forth and put one foot in front of another, a very hard task these days. But she had no other choice: they needed wood. They needed it to sell it, to live and eat from. Chaya's stomach growled and proofed the fact that they needed money.
Finally, Chaya arrived at the border where houses stopped and forest started. The slight difference in warmth compared to the middle of the streets made Chaya ease down a bit, but not for long. It took no more than a few steps for the girl to feel the heat surround her, and battle her out. Chaya put her hair up in a tight knot once again, to refray it from bothering her eyes. She lifted the axe with her strong arms, looked for two seconds like she was going to fall down, and then the axe cut into the tree with a loud THOP.
Chaya felt like undressing, if it was only to make the heat go away. But then, that didn't so much matter, because the only things the young girl was wearing were an old shorts, which was once a jeans, but nowadays a short full of holes, and a t-shirt she was wearing since she was ten, showing her belly and parts of her mothers old bra because of the holes in it. THOP! THOP! THOP! The wood howled, Chaya sweated and the birds were quiet. The birds didn't even sing on this hot day. Chaya felt a sudden urgue to scream, but refrayed and cut on. THOP! THOP! THOP!
