She's pretty, y'know? She tries hard. She combs her long hair for hours, desperate to not see tangles or matted strands. Therefore her hair cascades down her back in a waving waterfall of light chocolate. She always makes sure it doesn't hide her face. That would be a flaw. Girls who hide behind their hair are not perfect; girls who hide behind their hair are shy and insecure, and Kamilah can't be grouped with them. Since her hair is always pushed away, you can take in her face, which is sharp and delicate. She has shallow cheeks, and yet a strong jaw. This causes her to have a rather unique look, which is good. Uniqueness can make people perfect. So, yes, that's very good. Her eyes are piercing, and they are a clear blue in color. They seem to stab into the soul. They're not the prettiest eyes, of course. They're not all that wide and enchanting. But, they are strong, bold, and forceful. Those traits are perfect for a young woman from District 2. Her nose is blunt, and one of her minor imperfections. All the other girls have those cute, perky noses... then there is her. Sometimes, she looks in the mirror and sees a pig's snout. But it can't be helped. She just has to make sure she keeps the rest of her features dazzling.
She has small and plump lips the shade of the blush on a child's cheeks. Arched eyebrows extenuate her eyes, and take attention away from her nose. Good. She can still be seen as perfect. But glance down. Her neck is long... It's very long. But, it's still just a minor imperfection. Some boys could see it as graceful... Maybe elegant. And, in all honesty, it only helps her loom over all the other girls, which is rather a good thing. So yes, this minor imperfection she can live with. But let your eyes trail down further. Bony shoulders, and mosquito bites. That's a major imperfection. But what can she do aside from wear baggy shirts, cry when no eyes are on her form, and punch mirrors? Nothing really. On bad days she'll stuff her bra; she'll try to change it-- try to seem as perky as all those other girls. But still, that imperfection is still there, and the hysteria it causes is like a dangerous fog that consumes her. She has a pig nose, long neck, and is flat chested. So, how does she keep away from the fear that surrounds her due to these imperfections? She downs everything about your imperfections before you can get to her's.
Her arms are elegant. Long and with muscles dancing beneath the smooth surface. She makes the nails upon her slender fingers shine. She rubs them until they almost reflect light. Sometimes, if they even seem an inch too long, she'll scratch them on the nearest surface. Sometimes perfection is painful. But at least she makes sure they stay pretty. Her abdomen is slender, and that's good. Abdominal muscles push out gently against the ivory skin. Her waist is small, and bony. But that's okay. Yeah, of course. Guys like slender girls. Good. But what about what's below the waist?
Her legs are long and lanky. They seem awkward and wobbly. But they make her agile. She stands at a proud 5'8". Posture is important her. The proud and the perfect stand with poise.
Sure, she may sound gorgeous to you, but when imperfections are what cause you fear and hysteria, you start to notice a few.

Kamilah Sarabi Aten sounds like the type of girl who would cradle in a corner in agony of herself. Which is rather true... But Kamilah would never do anything like that in public. You see, when in the eyes of others, though her paranoia of imperfection still wafts around her, she seems like the most self-satisfied girl in the world. You can easily find her standing tall with her shoulders back, speaking with a husky and persuasive voice. She's not really the sweetest girl out there, by the way. Then again, this is a Career we're talking about. She's basically the stereotypical bully. All rough n' tough on the outside, but vulnerable on the inside.
For you see, Kamilah Aten is a girl with Atelophobia: the fear of imperfection. That's why she's so mean. She feels that if she points out the imperfections of other's, then her own imperfections will seem to fade away. She's rather a fragile girl, in all honesty. Being raised by two strict parents has made for a young woman who fears anything that is a flaw. It's unacceptable. You must stand tall, you must intimidate anyone in your way, you have to make everyone else boil with envy, and you have to keep your own agony locked away.
Due to being both the straight-edged bitch of District 2 and the fragile girl frozen by her own fear, Kamilah is a rather complex shell to crack. She doesn't like people, in all honesty. She'd rather just keep up a good intimidating image when in public and just shrug people off. Perfection does not necessarily mean being the goody-goody sweet girl, does it? No, of course not. Perfection means beauty, skill, and the ability to strike fear in the hearts of other's. Yes, that's it.
Sure, she may be a little fake. Okay, very fake. But perhaps if you tried to pull back the layers, you would be able to help this broken girl. But until then, she will forever hide her fear with the mask of perfection. It's all she can be. All she will be...
Perfect.

♕ { history }
Is perfection ever planned? In all reality, Kamilah doesn't believe it is. After all, she hadn't been planned. She was a mistake when she first entered this world, but soon became a family's single hope for glory...
It started during the end of Winter, but never really began until the start of the next. 17 years ago, during the last days of winter in February, a couple made love. Now, this particular couple had never really seemed like the ones to birth children, which they really weren't. Back when they were young, and able, they never made love. For a fear of a child was always lingering around them. So, when the mother, who was a frail woman, turned forty the father deemed it safe for one night of passions. But, life finds a way.
Cordelia Aten didn't realize she was pregnant until April, when a pudgy bump was forming on her normally delicate stomach. She was aghast, and horrified. Her husband, Charles Aten, at first deemed it as something else. He had never wanted a child. Sure, neither he or his wife were Victors, and a child-turned-Victor would be the only way to become bathed in glory, but the family was older and shrewd. They were rich, snobby, and only wanted each other. But as the months went by, and Cordelia's stomach continued to expand, Charles realized that he would have to deal with this. His child would someday be a Victor.
At the start of December, Cordelia went into labor. Screams of pain echoed through the room. Cordelia's body had always been frail, and delicate, and having the baby was draining her life away. But, being a former Career, Cordelia fought on. Kamilah Sarabi Aten was brought into the world on December 5. But, however, her mother was now paralyzed from the waist down...
Once Kamilah turned four, her father started her training. He already spurned the mistake enough as it was, but the fact that his precious wife had been damaged by the little beast made him treat Kamilah like an omen. Head up, posture perfect, look good, and intimidate everyone. That was the routine. When she was six, elbows on the table equaled a hand to the back of the head. When she was 10, holding a knife incorrectly equaled a hand to cheek, and now, at 17, imperfection equaled a prevailing fear that hung over her... Always threatening to cascade down and consume her.
Kamilah became a top Career. But, was she really doing the best she could do? She made rivals, and a handful of intimidated friends. Her main rival being Romelie Rhodes. Throughout it all, Kamilah has always been the girl who was feared, envied, andloved.But, when you are terrified of imperfection... what do you do?
