Appearance:

Standing at approximately five-feet and seven inches, Jorden is just the average height for a teenager. With his family's poverty and the limited access to water, the layers of muck collected on his body only thickens more. His poverty also affects him on the inside. He weighs only 115 pounds, but is quite muscular because of all the heavy work he must do. His malnutrition does not help him with gaining weight because of the lack of money and food.

Unfortunately enough, Jorden constantly gets sick because of the pollutants and toxins he breathes in from the coal mining areas. He has pneumoconiosis (black lung), a lung disease which causes shortness of breath and constant cough.

Jorden has a very pale and thin, bony face. His gray eyes often look solemn and sad, causing stirs of pity within some. His hair is a sandy-brown, though with all the coal work he has done, it is impossible to tell his true colors under all the dirt and grime that collected on his body.

Jorden overall has a very fragile build. While he is strong in carrying and lifting things, he takes offense easily. He takes the insult to heart and tries to do something to change.

Personality:

With the first few conversations, a person might see Jorden as a very shy and cowardly figure. He does not get along easily with other folks and finds it difficult to trust even people close to him. He is extremely polite to others, although they might not be to him. Jorden shows little to no affection to anyone close to him, mostly because he is afraid they might take advantage of him.

Jorden usually does not stand out from the crowd. He tries to blend in and avoid catching attention. Ironically, he is the one most often picked on and teased. Even his overseers criticize him in the coal mines while he is working, complaining that he is too unworthy of work and too stupid to understand the proper way to live life. While Jorden accepts the taunts, he is deeply hurt inside.

Being the most impoverished person in District 12, Jorden believes that life should be dealt with day by day, not planned. He has no planning skills whatsoever and tends to make decisions on the spot.
