I Walk along the beach, looking for crabs trapped in the tide pools left from the retreating salt water. The sun sparkles off the deep blue ocean, dazzling my eyes and forcing me to put on my sunglasses.I spot a movement below the clear water and examine it. A large crab the color of white sand, ambles along the sandy bottom of the tide pool. Bucket in hand, I lash out my hand and grab the tasty delicacy, my mouth watering at the thought of the feast we will have tonight. After making sure its claws are sealed with an elastic band, I place the crab into my bucket and continue on my search. I'm not just looking for crabs though, I'm searching for signs that anyone has been here recently and if anyone has tried to escape. Thats the whole reason I'm a peace keeper in training is to keep the people in my district inside the fence. Sweat drips down my forehead as I scan the ground for any footprints or anything else that might indicate an escapee, no such luck. What I do find are drag marks from a seal which I follow happily, hoping that perhaps one has wandered into the district. If this is the case, my mother and I will eat well tonight.

The trail leads past the fence, much to my disappointment. Why don't they ever come into the district I think to myself. I decide to call it a day and head back up to the district. The only thing in my bucket is the sand colored crab and that won't last very long. I sigh as I think about another night where my mother will no doubt go hungry because she wants me to have the best food the district has to offer. Grumbling under my breath about my mothers stupidity, I make my way into town where I bump into someone. ”Watch it" I growl at them as a bit of water from my bucket splashes my thighs, making me mutter something not very nice under my breath. Thats when I look up and see who it is.

The day wasn't the most wonderful of days, but she supposed it was alright. It wasn't the rain that threatened to fall, or the chill breeze that cut through her thin clothing that made this day bad, but the looming Reaping. She was entered in it, but it was't herself she was concerned for, it wasn't even Ray, her older brother. She was worried for Reef, for more reasons than one. He hated the Games, were scared by them and had gone to drastic measures to try and get free of them. Sadly, it hadn't worked and now he was back in the pool. Back to being reapable.

No, the weather had no affect on Siren, it could rain all it wanted or even have a thunderstorm if it felt like. She enjoyed the rain, and watching lightning dance on the surface of the water was amazing. Even just watching the reflected mass of clouds roll over the surface of the water held great enjoyment for her. As it was, she was on her way to the beach for a walk and perhaps a swim. Some people in District four were picky about temperature when they swam, but she had little preference. Especially when it was during the summer and the water hardly ever got cold.

I'm sorry, I tried to get this done before I left for my doctor's appointment, but I wasn't able to. I'll try and get more done later today.
