I slip on my jean jacket and head out to the barn. I'm supposed to sheer the sheep and bring the wool to my father- well- my adoptive father. I reach the barn and grab the shears, going over to the sheep. They don't seem to mind it this time of year, seeing at though it's only early fall. The leaves have only barely started to change and there aren't really any on the ground yet.
When I'm done shearing the sheep, I bring the wool to my father. He and my mother make it into thread that people like me are supposed to use to make things in the factories. He tells me I can head out if I like, and I grab my book, along with an apple, and start walking. As I'm walking, I realize I still have some remains of the wool on my jacket. I brush it off, but there always seems to be some on my jacket no matter what.
As I continue down the sidewalk, I spot a girl with long, dirty blonde hair. Her eyes are beautifully colored, being a very pretty brown with the slightest hint of green- I notice her hair is a bit brown as well. I wave to her as I'm walking, even though I don't know her. She looks to be my age, maybe a year or so older. Her face is also covered in freckles. Seeing the girl, I think I recognize her, perhaps from working in the factories. There are more people passing by, but no one I recognize.
This girl for some reason looks more familliar than anyone else that I've seen today, besides my parents. Then again, I haven't been outside much today, and it's my day off. As I'm walking I end up closer to the girl, and I sit down on a wooden bench nearby. The bench doesn't look to be the most sturdy thing, but luckily no one in our district is very heavy. There is also another person nearby that I think I may recognize, then again I may be wrong.
