Alex stands at 5'11" and is of relatively slender build, at least compared to the brutes of men that are his family. His father and uncles are all musclebound and over six foot tall, so he seems meager next to them. In reality, he isn't as scrawny as they make him out to be with their jabbing and teasing. Sure, he isn't as toned as them, but their bulging biceps and triceps would make the hardiest of men think twice about taking them on in fisticuffs. Alex's build is similar to what one would expect from a man his age in any other district; more substantial than skin and bones, but no flab hanging anywhere either. However, in District 7, and in Alex's family in particular, it is expected that a man his age would have built up some muscles of note through the hard labour of the lumber mills. He is of Caucasian skin tone, paler than that of his family due to him working indoors on paperwork while they work outside in the forests of the District. he has brown eyes and hair, which he keeps cut short lest in get in his eyes while working, as is the norm. He doesn't tend to style it, preferring to leave it as it is when he rises from bed, with the only exception being for Capitol-related functions such as the Reaping. Even then he doesn't make much of an effort, simply combing any flyaway hairs into conformity. Why some of his friends spend as much time as they do on their appearance he has no idea. A waste of time, if you asked him.

As far as clothing went, Alex could usually be seen in brown cotton trousers with braces, a shirt and a pair or sensible shoes. More often than not he had the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbows, from habit more than for any other reason. His clothes aren't typically as dirty as his father's, due to his lack of manual labour. They also have far less evidence of stitches and his shoes have less scuff marks for the same reason.
