Day one was hell.
I mean, for the tributes it couldn't have been a picnic, but if I had a dollar for every stupid Gamemaker that screamed at me to do my job while I sat there in awe as tributes dropped to the ground, I'd be .. well, still rich, but you know. I mean, what did they expect me to do? The bloodbath is its own entity, almost entirely out of our control. Tributes kill, tributes die, and what the hell do they expect me to do about it? There are a handful of people beneath my rank who would gladly accept any extra responsibility. But no, I'm the man in charge, and I have to lead, and make sure that those below me keep their records and prepare canons and track the tributes as they flee and blah blah blah. Being a Gamemaker is tough work, and all I wanted to do yesterday was revel in it all and watch the tributes fall.
They told me that I couldn't bet on the tributes (something about bias, but really I couldn't give a rat's ass about any of the tributes) which made me exceedingly upset. As if I bet for the money, ha. So I made a small ordered list of my own, nice and private so nobody could point fingers and say it was rigged. It's right here, in my pocket where nobody can take it unless they're too close.
Axel Van de Grif from Ten was the first to die. Not that watching tributes bleed to death is particularly enjoyable, but his death was gruesome. He died instantly when River Destin - the intimidating girl from Four - split his skull right open (brains, I swear you could see brains but maybe I was just imagining things) and took his machete. And that was that. Others had already been ganging up on him, but that's how it goes. Once someone's taken a few hits, they're an easy target. And the bloodbath is fickle that way - you never know who it's going to be. The strongest tribute in the whole Arena could fall, or the weakest; it just depends. Alliances are a factor. Truces too. I certainly can't know all of their secrets, so the Bloodbath is up in the air death-wise. Who the hell knows? Poor Axel Van de Grif. Wrong place, wrong time, wrong connections. Who the hell knows.
[OOC: I'm tired and I just want to sleep, so I'll just keep replying to this thread when I add things. It will be more relevant in a bit.]
