Medea has dark red hair. It goes to the middle of her back and it is coarse. It has a slight curl to it and refuses to be straightened. Her eyes are light gray, but you don't get to see them very often because she is blind. She keeps sunglasses over her eyes to keep the sun from hurting them. On the odd moment that you can see her eyes you can tell she is blind. Her eyes don't seem like they look at anything in particular. They don't change with her emotions and are just there.

Her face has more of a round shape to it, but it is slightly oval. Her cheeks are a little sunk in since she is underweight. She weighs 100 pounds and only stands at 5'3". She lives in the poorest district and can't work anywhere but her mother's shop because of her blindness so she has to depend upon her mother to make most of the income so her and her siblings can eat. When she does eat she eats healthy because her mother owns a vegetable shop and a garden.

Personality:

She is very shy and hates attention. She tries to keep her head down and stay out of the way. She does enjoy listening to people's conversations and whatnot. Her hearing is extra sensitive to compensate for her blindness so she can hear other people easily. She is clumsy since she cannot see anything. She has a walking stick, but she doesn't enjoy using it because she thinks it makes her look weak. She prefers to walk and trip then look weak.

She loves to spend time in the fields smelling the flowers, but hates it that she can't see them. She feels peaceful when it is just her and the flowers. She also seems to have a green thumb. The plants in her mother's garden always seems to flourish under her care. Unfortunately the Capital residents enjoy her mother's vegetables so much they take a lot of it.

She also very adventurous. Even though she cannot see she still likes to wonder around. She dreams one day of getting past the fence to smell the flowers there. She is scared because she knows she is not allowed. That is why she usually stays inside the fence, where she is safe. She also is demanding. She knows her sisters have other disabilities, but they can see things where she can't. She will make them get things for her and do things for her, using her blindness as an excuse.

History:

She is one of the triplets in the Lane family. She has 4 sisters and 2 brothers, all with some sort of mental or physical disability. Her mother has to raise all 7 of them by herself because her father died in the mines when she was 14. She has fared better then some of her other siblings with her father's death. She sometimes misses his voice, but he paid more attention to his boys then anything else.

She has a really hard time at school. She is picked on because of her disability and she can't do everything everyone else does. She can't read, write, or see anything the teacher writes on the board. She has to have someone at school with her all the time to help her with those things. They meet up in a resource type room while the other students are at gym and they go over things that the teachers taught in class that day.

She dreams of traveling to the other districts to smell and find out what kind of plants they have there, but she knows that probably won't happen. She will most likely work in her mother's vegetable shop and garden for the rest of her life. Maybe she will inherit it when her mother dies since she is the best at tending plants in her family.
