At first, when you look at Kalina, you’ll see an average, 17 year old, 5’3 height girl, with a small frame and a small smile that has an air of shyness. Once you really get to look at her, you’ll notice something different about this girl. Krylic is has a vision in her eyes that represents a new person, everyday. Always lit up with a passion for knowledge in them and a keen eye to detail. With a low arching eyebrows and almond shaped eyes, gentleness is apparent even with the first meeting. Her voice is soft, but is full of confidence. She has chocolate brown hair and an olive skin tone, but she has no use for makeup or the like. She believes that skin beauty is its own reward, so her skin is well taken care of.
Her hairstyle differs from day to day. One day it might be loose natural curls and another day it will be thrown up in a messy ponytail and strands hanging down whichever way. No two days are alike. Don’t get the wrong idea, she doesn’t mind to get dirty though. It comes with the district. Cutting down trees, gives her an edge to her beauty. What little arms that she‘s got is pure muscle as is her legs from the many years of climbing said trees.

There are multiple scars on her arms, due to the work setting, but they are very light and easily missed. The only thing that couldn't be missed, is the misshape of her shoulder. It is just a little higher than the other as though the bone protudes a bit and is weaker due to her accident over a year ago and on her hand, her pinky is crooked from being broken.

She dons pants and a long shirt and her hair up in a ponytail when working out in the woods, but when she isn’t working or on the weekend when she has school work to do, she usually likes to wear one of several dresses that she favors and just lets her hair down. She enjoys looking nice. She is very versatile.

Personality:

A lover of the tree’s around her. She was meant to be born in district 7. With its lush forest surroundings, she craves all things outside. She’s a dreamer though. Often found during her work hours to be daydreaming. After her work is done, she can be found leaning against a tree doing whatever; her homework, reading, talking with her friends. The only reason she goes inside is to sleep and sup with her family. She knows the types of trees, the burdens they will carry.
Since she was a little girl, she loved to climb the trees and from that experience, she‘s not afraid of heights. She is really close to her youngest sister, Lotus, and teaches her everyday about the environment that they live in. While her parents are working on the weekends, she is their source of mothering. She cooks and cleans for her two younger sisters; in between school work and other things. She helps them with their school work as well.

Kyrlic is a very helpful person and gregarious. There isn’t a stranger she has met. She will speak to about anyone, regardless of how they treat her. So, people usually take advantage of her. She does seem shy when you first look at her, but looks can be deceiving. She is a natural born fighter and hates to let anything keep her down.

History:

Being born in the 7th district allows for certain advantages. Fresh air, exercise, and an excuse to daydream. That is Kalina in a nutshell. When she was born, she was loved and was shown exactly what their district took pride in. Her father, Elan, was in charge of one set of tree cutters. He was the man that everyone respected and came to in times of need. A strong manner, he never let anyone see the weak side to him except for Kalina. To her, he was the one she looked up to and strived everyday to be just like; a true daddy’s girl. As the years when by, she gained two little sisters, Saffron and Lotus. As the years went by, she took care of them and she accepted her duty to help raise them when their parents were away working. She was always teaching them new things, tieing their shoes, learning to read and even about nature. Her littlest sister, Lotus, was named by Kalina, so she has felt a sense of pride in teaching Lotus everything she knows and hopes that she will take after her.

Her mother, Mita, worked in the factory tending to the lumber that was brought in and she helped cataloged everything with a few other secretary workers. Her father ,on the other hand, would take his crew out into the forest. That was the only thing she wanted; was to work along side him. So when she turned 14, she began to work with him. Learning everything he had to teach her. How to prune a tree so it may grow and prosper; Which side the tree would fall; How to prepare it for moving; Even learn how to get back up and out into the forest after an injury. She soaked up the knowledge like a sponge. Her knowledge and instinct was tested one day, when a fairly new tree cutter to the group cut the tree the wrong way. She noticed the angle the man was cutting was opposite that he was suppose to be and knew if he continued, it would fall the wrong way. However, she didn’t catch him in time and the tree began to fall. It was aimed toward her co-work and friend, Seth. As fast as the tree began to fall, so did her feet. Mere seconds separated her coworkers death and the limb that took her down. Even a small limb compared to the girth of the tree was enough to dislocate her shoulder and knock her unconscious from the fall. A few hours after it all occurred, she woke up with her arm in a sling and a bandage on her hand.

The gratitude from her co-worker is what kept her spirits high. The boy named Seth, a schoolmate and co-worker her age, became her loyal companion after that. He visited her for days after the accident and told stories of the forest so she wouldn’t miss her job so much. She welcomed the stories and quickly began to miss it. With her fathers help, he encouraged and helped her heal from her injury. When she returned to the forest, she couldn’t have missed it more. She loved her job. It was home to her.

Eventually, at 16, she became an arborist and she, with a few others, take care of the trees by pruning them and keeping them healthy until they are to be used for other purposes. The height doesn’t bother her at all. Since she has loved to climb since she was young, it was only a matter of time before it became her profession. Even with her misshaped shoulder, that doesn’t stop her from doing her job right.
