Age: 17
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 4
Appearance:
Marina is exactly 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. She has a very light skin and dark brown freckles, mainly in her nose, which resembles the mixture of colors present in the sand. Being very petite and having a pear-shaped body gives her an extremely curvy silhouette. Her long skinny face, thin pointy nose and prominent cheekbones give her a serious look that suits her image.Personality:
What pops out the most in her visage are the big bright seaweed green eyes and her naturally plumped cherry lips. Her hair is also very characteristic – long and with very large curls with a wheat color that tends to lighten even more in the months when she spends most of her time in the sun. Due to the climate and the salt from the sea her hair tends to dry a lot which, together with the natural curls, makes it even messier and wilder. She uses it like that anyway due to its peculiar aspect. Only on the hottest days does she do an effortless simple hair bun, and never anything more elaborate than that.
Last but not least, she also has a dark red scar all over her left arm, shoulder and a fraction of her back and neck that resembles branches from a tree.
She’s a really hard worker and very dedicated to her family and friends, although there are very few of them left. Because of her rough childhood, especially the incident that left her with her scar, she feels as if she has a bulls eye on her back. She feels as if the world turned its back on her and she resents it all. Her heart is full of anger and resentment against life and she made it her lifelong goal to cheat her bad luck and turn out very successful. Her thirst for power and her ambition to do well in life and prove to everyone that she is not to be played with made her very unapproachable and cold at the naked eye. Also, her eagerness to learn more everyday and to go up in life is stepped on by the governmental system she lives under, making all her dreams and efforts unreachable. She might not want to accept it but the truth behind it haunts her and slowly destroys her inside, for she cannot accept that her life is never going to be more than what it is now. The possibility of a future revolution is what keeps her hoping.History:
She spends most of her time alone, although she wishes she had someone to be close to. She spends hours of her day in the sea or at the beach, constantly carrying a sweet smell of the ocean and sand on her feet. She sees her dream of freedom hidden in the ocean and swimming in the only way she can find to allow her wild spirit to come out for a while. Secretly she fears any type of violence so the constant possibility of entering the hunger games frightens her to be bones, but at the same time she truly believes her ruthless personality and need to be victorious would blossom on that situation and show a side of her that is yet to be awakened.
Her tough exterior is compensated with a soft heart. Although not many people enter her life, when they do they are guaranteed to have a spot in the sun. Her loyalty knows no boundaries and neither does her love. She’s the perfect company when memories from the past don’t stop her from appreciating the present.
Carpa is the oldest daughter from a family of six children. Growing up in a rather poor family with many mouths to feed meant many sleepless nights due to hunger. Disease was also very present, especially situations of scurvy and other diseases that could be easily caught among sea men. One of carpa's younger siblings was actually killed by cholera, thus leaving in the family in pure suffering. The constant famine and lack of health throughout her life led Carpa to look at the past with bitterness and angst, never holding one truly happy memory of those times.Codeword: odair
Her mother was the daughter of a local tailor but never really pursued a career, being a domestic housewife her whole life. Cooking and sewing were the only two things she was able to teach Carpa. Although loving her mother very much, Carpa resents her a bit for choosing to stay at home rather than to work and provide a better quality life for her family. She died giving birth when Carpa was 14 years old. She then had to become a mother for her two younger sisters, 5 year old Anemonie and the new born they decided to name Victoria, for her survival in that difficult delivery was truly a victory. Carpa does all the cooking and all the clothes for everyone in the house to safe the family more money.
Her father is a simple fisherman that tries to teach his children all that he can. Ever since Carpa was 3 year old he took her to the fishing boat with him. She showed a lot of agility swimming since a very young age, so instead of being in the boat she would help out mostly from the water, helping with the fishing nets, luring fishes to the right areas, and, in the shallow areas, catching mollusks and seaweeds. When she was 5 years old she accidentally was caught in a large group of box jellyfishes, the deadliest of them all. Her two older brothers rescued her just in time, being stung in the process as well. Carpa’s left upper body area was severely stung and to make things worse, the injuries became infected. For a couple of months Carpa’s life was at stake until she slowly recovered. The injuries, however, left scars that will accompany her for the rest of her life.
Traumatized by the episode, Carpa never wanted to return to the ocean with the intention of fishing, leaving that job for her father, and her older twin brothers, Lanzon and Rubio. Currently she takes care of the house and the younger siblings, and does a few tailoring works at very reduced prices for the poor people from her district. Her father and brothers keep fishing and sometimes are gone months at the time, leaving Carpa even more alone than she already is. She’s planning on one day making her tailoring skills her life supply. She wants to open a store and hopes and her success is enough to provide for her entire family, so that she can bring her father and her brothers home for good.

The characters scar concept is based in my real life story, the little part of me that I passed on to her. Even if you don't like the idea or anything of that sort, please turn it down easily. It's a very sensitive issue for me. I appreciate your consideration.
