Lux Aeterna. Isn't that what they say?History:
When Lux was six years old, he would make miniature traps on his bedroom floor and catch mice. It wasn't that he was sadistic - on the contrary, he would always set them free again, never hurting them or affecting them save marking their backs with a fluorescent dye - it's just that he wanted to prove that he could. He would open the door of his intricate, electrically-triggered cage, removing the small creature and cupping it in his hands carefully, before sprinting down to Luce's bedroom and showing her his prize. And, of course, he was met by the routine screaming of "Get out, Lux! I don't care about your daft pets!" from his much more mature sister, although it didn't faze him. He had proved himself, and that's what did matter.
His whole childhood, Lux pulled safe-but-spectacular stunts like that to show his worth. And, because of his background and his influential parents, it was ensured that he always made the impression he wanted to, as well. It was his constant success that earned him the nickname "Lucky", but he knew it wasn't luck, it was because of his greatness, his charm, and his brains. He grew up with confidence, accepting his responsibility for his father's empire in the future with a sense of pride. Although, ultimately, it would be that pride that was his downfall. When he became friends with Nox Sullivan, the superiority he had over everyone, no exceptions, was halted. Nox was his equal - his age, of his reputation, even as good looking as he was. The only thing that gave Lux a standing over his counterpart was that Lux's mind was fully-functional, and the same couldn't be said for Nox, with his dyscalculia and time-bomb temper. However, Lux is aware that with humility and good grace comes success, as Luce has told him many times, and he wouldn't dare let that fact that, mentally, he was one step ahead of his rival ever come to light in Nox's hearing. Who knows how he would respond?
Ever since the deaths of both CEOs, Lux has known he's in danger. "They're going to try to kill you," Luce said, bursting into his room as he had once burst into hers, but with a sharp, crimson-tinted knife in her hand rather than a rodent, "they're going to try to kill you and it's my fault, Lux." But he wasn't programmed to fight, to defend himself, to protect his legacy for his father's seat, he was programmed to be entitled, to just succeed. Lux never fought for anything in his life - save his mouse traps, which he slaved over for days and weeks - it had always come effortlessly. Now, he felt like one of the mice himself, totally powerless, failing to get free from something so much larger and more complex than he had the power to imagine. Although Lux is a king, he feels like a pawn, moved around just to be sacrificed when the time came. His whole life, he's moved in leaps and bounds, but now he knows that, to survive as a King, he has to learn to take things one square at a time, or else risk being checkmated all too soon.
But that time hadn't come yet, and Lux, and all the Dewitts with him, didn't intend to let it.
Lux Aeterna. Eternal light. Lux Dewitt was going to ensure he lived forever.Lux is his family’s next-in-line for the company’s throne, and you could say that his new status as “king” of the family has started to go to his head. A bit spoiled and prone to snobbery, Lux can often seem like a typical rich boy who likes to rub his money in everyone’s faces, but he really means no harm. He’s actually quite a kind-hearted young man who doesn’t really understand the importance of the situation he’s in, a boy who’s been sheltered all his life and therefore doesn’t know the first thing about the dangerous world around him. He’s optimistic and logical, often prone to sudden flashes of genius, and believes himself to be totally in control when it’s really his sister who holds the reigns. In actuality, he’s just an innocent boy in way over his head.Codeword: woooooaooooaaaoh mona lisaaaa
