Nitya drifted across the shore of the beach. Her feet barely left impressions in the sand as she moved across it. The air was frigid, but she didn't care. She enjoyed cooler weather. The only unfortunate thing was that she had not dressed for it at all. She was wearing shorts and a tank top and held her flip flops as well as a paint set in her hands. None of it was really cold weather material, but to be fair she had not originally planned on walking away from her home. It had been one of those spur of the moment instances.
All she'd done was go outside to check the family's personal nets. However, the moment she'd seen the moon rising in the sky in such a way that sent light dancing on the waves, she knew she wanted to attempt to paint it. Besides, it had been a little tense in her house lately. This had been the perfect chance to escape for just a little while, so she had grabbed her paints from their hiding place under the house and left. She hadn't wanted to go back inside the house to grab anything else since she might have gotten stuck there. Of course now she was regretting it a little.
However, she didn't go back. She knew her family wouldn't worry too much; she was a bit of a free spirit and often went on walks at night. Now she was just wandering around with no real direction. She saw the lights from some of the boats that were still on the water, and she wondered what it would be like when she had a boat of her own. It must feel like having a little freedom.
As she was walking, a figure caught her eye. The way the figure stood out against the water made her stop. Without really thinking about how creeperish it would look for her to do what she was about to do, she sat down and got out her paints. It was pretty dark, but she was just able to make out what she was doing. She watched the figure and started to sketch and paint. She was oblivious to the cold, but she was aware that the person was getting closer.
For an instant, she considered jumping up and getting out of there, but something made her stop from doing that. Instead, she continued on until she felt that the figure was close enough to see that they were being observed. Carefully she put her painting down and sat back on her hands and looked towards the ocean. She wondered if the person would come up, and for an instant she considered calling out, but she didn't want to be more creepy.
